    Iran unveils long-distance bomber drone

Iran unveils long-distance bomber drone | World news | The Guardian
Iran has unveiled an unmanned, long-distance bomber drone described by the country's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, as "an ambassador of death" to Tehran's enemies. ...
Ahmed Vahidi, the Iranian defence minister, said the Karrar had a range of up to 620 miles, which is not far enough to reach Israel.
Iranian state TV reported that the UAV could carry four cruise missiles, two 250lb bombs or one 500lb bomb. ...
On Friday, Tehran test-fired a new domestically built surface-to-surface missile called the Qiam (meaning "rising"). It has already developed long-range missiles capable of hitting Israel and eastern Europe and of carrying a nuclear warhead. ...
ahmadinejad insists this is a defensive weapon, indicating iran's defensive capabilities "should reach a point where we can cut off the aggressor's arm before he acts, and if we miss, we should destroy him before he hits the target. ... "The main message of Karar bomber is to prevent any kind of aggression and conflict ..."
on the horizon, it appears we will soon see the third generation fateh 110 missile exceeding the present model's throw of 125 miles
missle carrying speedboats and being manufactured as well as mini subs to patrol shallow gulf waters
it appears that the chest thumping and overt threats against iran have had an effect. pretty certain that this is not the one we wanted, however
we are negotiating about dividing a pizza and in the meantime israel is eating it

620 miles wouldn't be long range in 1938, much less now. Non-issue.

for an offensive weapon, i would agree

but they are about to unveil the first iranian liquid fuel projectile

so, maybe incrementally, the nation is seeking to acquire a military capacilty which will deter potential aggressors

Today, it's 620 miles. Tomorrow, it's 1,000 miles, which is far enough to drop a nuke on Israel.

Yes, because if not for the dastardly US, Iran would be a land of peace, milk and honey.
People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Maybe, maybe not, but it was the US which installed the Shah by way of Operation Ajax, thus overthrowing a democratically elected president.

The same democratically elected president that dissolved the Iran's parliament and installed himself as dictator?

The current government in Iran is the same one that overthrew the Shah and folks don't seem to happy with what's going on in Iran.

I have never understood why it's always someone other than the bad actors fault for their actions.

Except for the part where Iran does not have nukes, and hasn't shown any overt attempts to build a nuclear weapon... although, since they are all but surrounded by countries with nuclear weapons I don't exactly blame them for wanting to get some nukes in the long term, at the least as a deterrent.

Now, I'm not exactly defending Iran here, as they are not 'good guys' in all of this either... but it's not like Israel wants nothing but peace and good will towards Iran either...
