I have to drive my recylables somewhere and sometimes I don't make big deal if some get thrown in the trash. I sure wouldn't want to be fined just because i'm not perfect at it.
Not everyone even has the bins or programs in their area. That's maybe something that should be taken care of to make it easier for people. Big Brother monitoring our trash is what I find unacceptable.
Where I live, we have trash trucks and recyclable trucks that come by our home. We have a bin for trash and one for recyclables and both are taken away daily. It is legally required here. Taipei has a bag and tag style system where you have to purchase special bags and garbage will only be taken in those bags... everything else goes in the recycling truck. We don't have that where I live, but we have the separate bins and trucks and both come by daily.

Again, I'm still wondering who are these assholes in Cleveland who need a fine to remind them to recycle.

Are they the fat slobs getting diabetes from drinking 2-liter-big-gulp sodas and making us pay their medical bills? Are they so fat from consumption that they can't bend over to break down a cardboard box? Are they so freaking lazy that they can't be bothered to spend a few extra minutes stacking pizza boxes and tossing them in the right bin.

Are they the ones who have kids that look like a willy wonka character, plump as can be??

No sympathy. Break your **** down or pay the fine, fat pig.

Daily trash pick up WOW. Here in Dallas they have cut back to once a week due to budget constraints.

When you live in the second-most crowded country (of those with more than 10 million people) in the world, you need to make sure you get rid of the garbage for sanitary reasons...

Glad I live in a country with daily (sometimes twice daily) garbage pickup...

It wouldn't smell if the food waste went on your compost heap.
One local council has a two bin system with clear guidelines, and an obvious hint in the different bin sizes.

I would love it if the area I lived in actually picked up recyclables. I surely wouldn't complain about some chip

We have government issued blue barrels that food waste goes into. It is fed to the pigs...

If government wants compliance, they should make compliance as easy as is practical. I know my hometown in NH has weekly recyclable pickup
