Decision Not to Rebuild Church Destroyed on 9/11 Surprises Greek Orthodox Leaders

How about a big "You ****ing deserved it" sign with a picture of Osama taking a **** on an American flag while anally violating an image of Uncle Sam with an airplane shaped dildo?

That seems a helluvalot more insensitive and provocative to me. And that only took a moment of imagining to come up with.

I think you need to give yourself an infraction for that!….. Maybe two.

I can't imagine nothing more insensative than a Temple of Hate dedicated to glorifying 9-11 and "America's fault" as stated by Imam Rauf.

Wow, that would be incensitive...if that's what was being built there.

Dan to the RESCUE! Liberals rejoice!

Talks broke down, there is no media coverage (till now of the issue).

Really? Is the NY Times not media, or is early last year somehow now? Haven't we(not you, but others) already been over this issue last couple days(which are in the past)?

Stop listening and repeating the talking points the conservative talk show guys give you, they are no more reliable than the liberal talking points.

Page A 29. Hardly front page coverage

I think you would agree the coverage it received before was far less than what it is getting now.

Have you ever heard the term "moving the goalpost"? First it's no media coverage, except there is, then it's not good enough because it's only in the front section of the paper.

I never said anything about no coverage. I didn't argue with your evidence. I said the coverage is certainly much stronger now than it was then. Do you not agree?

I was responding to a claim that there was no coverage.

When this Mosque attracts Militants, as it surely will, and they grow in numbers and ensconce their own Imams who preach hate....and blow up some densely populated Blue state city......you will have asked for it.

I used to think New Yorkers were tougher. It appears that you can mass murder them, and given time, they will become your wienie washers. Death by MultiCultis.

Im pretty sure a city of liberals arent losing sleep over conservatives saying that they deserve to die.

So where do you live toughguy? Try going into a gang ridden area and call some of those guys ******s and see what happens.

What are those "tough guys" doing about this, and what does your blather have do do with the subject?

Are you saying Gang ridden areas are good with terrorists? A commonality?

I didn't say deserve, I said asking for it. There's a difference.

Do you deny that Militants will be attracted?

I do. Considering this isn't even a Mosque, but a 13 story cultural center with the top two floors reserved for prayers, I don't think this will be the beacon of radicalism.

Hamas has come out in favor of it. Not all liberals are human shields for our enemies though.

Surprisingly Howard Dean has now come out against it too. Go Figure.

Edit to add~ He lives there though doesn't he?

Howard Dean's argument against it is that it is too soon. And I don't care what Hamas thinks in this situation. In all reality, they are probably using reverse psychology to try to get us to not build it. If we don't build it, they have a recruitment tool. They can just go around and say "Hey, the US isn't willing to respect our religion, let's pervert that and have you blow up and kill some innocent people." The "Mosque" being built would actually probably hurt Hamas more then it would help them.

And of course you see it that way.

And with so many like you, completely spineless and tied in intellectually meaningless political knots on every issue, the beginning of the end of this great nation has begun.

We didn't get to this point laying down and taking it like this. And we won't stay here long that way either.

Ok I didn't read the whole thread. Got to this post and just had to respond.

Here's the deal.

Those building the mosque has gotten all the permits to build. They are with in zoning laws to build where they are going to. They have the same right to build there as you do. More actually since they have the permits. But if you did have the permits then you'd both have the same rights.

The Greek Orthodox Church was trying to get bigger land and money from the Port Authority in NY. Negotiations fell through. Much like would happen with any other business etc etc. They are however free to rebuild on the plot of land they already own.

*sigh*

Most of the problem that people have with the building of the mosque is that it was muslim extremists that destroyed the towers. They are allowing their prejudices to interfere with what is a Right that is available to anyone that has jumped through the hoops of getting permits.

Is it a slap in the face for them to be building a mosque at that location? Hell yes. But denying them the right that anyone else has is a slap at our Constitution also. Our Constitution is about individual rights. If we deny them the ability to build their mosque there then we are in essence no better than the terrorists that took out the Towers. What makes it worse is that the terrorists WANT us to disregard what this country is built on. That way they can just point at us and say "See? They are nothing but liars." And you can be sure that is exactly how they will react.

So do you want to show them that we are truely Americans who believe in individual rights and freedom of religion? Or do you want to show them that we are Americans that only believe in individual rights and freedom of religion when it suits us?

Ya know, this whole Mosque thing is a little bit crazy. I mean, do people support tossing out the occupants of the EXISTING MOSQUE 530 YARDS FROM GROUND ZERO?

I understand the uneasyness about establishing a mosque near GZ. People insist that the Constitution is inviolate. It's time to put your money where your mouth is, because for freedoms and rights to truly exist, it means that someone or someones have the exact same rights as anyone else, even if those rights make you uncomfortable. The First Amendment says:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof

It doesn't say "if you are a Christian" or "if you believe what the majority of the rest of the country believes" or "Muslims excepted." It says religion. Period. No qualifiers, no exceptions, no predujices.

Mr. V: You want the church built? YOU PAY FOR IT. Buy the land and donate it. Surely a staunch conservative like yourself isn't advocating the use of 60 MILLION TAXPAYER DOLLARS to fund an exercise that flies in the face of the establishment clause, are you? ARE YOU?

Sharif el-Gamel purchased the Park Pl. property and donated it to the Mosque. Are you willing to do the same for the Greek Orthodox Church? Or are you going to keep spewing propaganda? You preach small-government/leave me alone/don't tread on me/Obama is a socialist/the stimulus was B.S./cut my taxes, yet you want 60 MILLION TAXPAYER DOLLARS to be spent on what is - CONSTITUTIONALLY - not a government concern. How very liberal of you.

You stepped off of the curb without looking, and are now splattered across the windshield of the Double-Standard Express.

There are mosques in Los Angeles, which is only 2,443 miles from Ground Zero. They must go.
