Judge: State ban on protests at military funerals unconstitutional

Any sources on that besides from Stormfront?

Are you calling me a Nazi? White supremist? I mean, be honest and tell us all what your point really is. Be a man and own up to that statement, for once in your life.

"Muslim Victory"? You sound like this is the crusades or something? This is 2010 bro. Just because some wacko Muslims with a death wish flew some planes into some buildings 10 years ago, doesn't mean the entire Muslim world is trying to destroy America and Christianity. Go read the definition of "paranoia". My point was where are your sources to back up that "Most Muslims feel this is a victory", and they better not be those skewed, unreliable statistics from ultra-right wing websites. I mean a real news source that says "Most Muslims" feel this Mosque is a victory over America. Back up your statements with some facts for once in your life.

I would agree with you, except that the imam that wants to build this mosque is a terrorist sympathizer.

Why would we let an imam, who sympathizes with terrorists, preach in a mosque 600 feet from Ground Zero.

I'm old enough to remember 9/11. Maybe you can't relate.

Care to back up your statement accusing me of being a white supremist?

Building the Ground Zero mosque is nothing more than an insult to America and the Americans that were murdered on 9/11. This is a monument to victory for the Muslims. That's how it is viewed by many Muslims.

First, they aren't building it at ground zero. That's false to start with. And second, as they are not the radicals who committed that evil, it is no different than a christian church being built a couple of blocks away. Only someone misinformed and perhaps bigotted would be offended.

So, this is very different.

Oh! This is, "different"?...:rofl I should have seen that coming.

If it's no different than building a Christian church in the same area, why has NYC refused to clear a project to rebuild the Greek Orthodox Church that was destroyed on 9/11? Don't see Bloomberg cutting through the red tape and pontificatting for that cause, like he is for the mosque.

You'll have to ask the city, but that is a different issue as well. In terms of insult, one is no more insulting than the other. Try staying on topic. ;)

So, what's a couple of blocks? 80-100 meters, correct?

Doesn't matter, it doesn't change that 80-100 meters from ground zero still isn't logically the same as being on or directly next to ground zero.

Most of the country disagrees with you on that one.

If you want me to stay on topic, then don't talk about issues that aren't topic. Eh, friend?

Meaningless even if true. popular opinion alone never equals fact. As it relates to our discussion, I have stayedon topic. I have stayed with discussing wha is and isn't an insult. You diverted. Not me. ;)

Asked and answered.

That's not finding something wrong with liberals, that's just bitching about a Bush policy.

Damn, did you sprain something dodging that one? That should have hurt, even by conventional "conversational tactics". It's really hard to tell sometimes when browsing these forums who sincerely believes what thay are saying and who is just "arguing intellectually".(A sport several friends of mine indulge in, with great passion, often frightening bystanders and occasionally waking the cat, but never with any hard feelings afterwards, even if no resolution is reached. It is after all a "game", and we all know this going in) But the mental gynastics necessary to "miss" some points is astounding, yet common, and I often wonder if it's tiring?

Do you really think Michelle Obama uses words like "fabulosity", except in mockery of people who use words like "fabulosity"?

psst...it's "supremacist"

That's nonsense. When the Muslims see the turmoil over the building of a mosque they see that the terrorists were right, America has an irrational hatred of Muslims. We talk about freedom of religion but what we really mean is freedom to worship as Christians (we are still ambivalent about Jews).

We are a pitiful people if we can't avoid being manipulated by the conservative agitators like Fox and Rush who want nothing more than to create controversy. It seems that some people have to have adrenalin with their coffee and the conservative pundits/agitators are willing to provide the adrenalin.

My belief on protesting funerals, anyone's funeral, is always the same, it is harassment. I don't think anyone should be protected from harassment charges. They are not exercising their rights, they are playing the system. Anyone who would protest at or near any funeral should get charged with harassment. I don't even care what they are protesting. If it disturbs mourners, it should be harassment. The group is targeting specific funerals, and therefore it should meet the legal definition of harassment.

The funeral home should seek a restraining order against the protesters in order to prevent the harassment. I do think that the judge was right in striking down a ban on protesting but the laws preventing harassment should be able to prevent these idiots from spreading their gospel of hate at these funerals.

If the protester's god tells them to inflict distress on people at a time of grief, then their god sucks.

Oh, and just to make sure I get my daily "claim he's a libbo" in...

WBC most assuredly does have the right to do this. Its wrong of them, horrible, disgusting, and pathetic on their part. Put me on a Jury and I'd probably never convict someone who punched one of them out, "temporary insanity". But in regards to the actual law, and respecting the constitution because I am not a "when-it-benefits-me-constructionist"...this is the correct ruling.

Better than that...... trip and just so happen to give one of them a good solid head butt, right in the snozz.

I wasn't going to respond to this topic because the Church has the right to protest regardless how disgusting an un-American I see it to be.

I have decided to chime in because I felt the need to defend Christians.

Not the Westboro Baptist Church of so-called Pastor Fred Phelps mind you because I can't for the life of me see anything about this radical bunch that even remotely resembles any Christian Church I have ever attended.

I don't see this as anything but a Cult, not unlike the Snake handlers and poison drinkers we see on TV but would never associate with.

This is despicable mostly because these young lives they are mocking and protesting against are the ones who protect these wackos right to be fools.

Those who stand for nothing fall for anything like these fools who fell for a load of crap from a charlatan

Heck with defending Christians, after these idiots, someone has to defend the human species.

You could replace the WBC followers with the people who follow Bin Laden and his ilk. It's the same thing, brainwashing using a twisted form of religion, just with different goals in mind. Horrible people who do a tremendous disservice to their respective religions, the whole lot of them.

The way to counter, the Westboro Baptist Church is to organize a counter-Phelps protest comprised of hot chicks making out.

Hot dudes making out, too. Fair and balanced!

Personally, I think it would work a lot better if you had really ugly, fat chicks and old sweaty dudes making out, with as little clothing as possible on.
