A leader of the generally ridiculed movement which believes President Obama was not born in the United States must pay a $20,000 fine she was slapped with in 2009, the nation’s highest court ruled Monday. …

"I have means to pay, the public is collecting funds," Taitz said. She said she received $3,500 in four or five days. "Within a month, I will have the $20,000," Taitz said. "Most of them are contributing maybe $20, $25 dollars, there's a lot of support."

The Birther movement goes on … but $20,000 lighter …

Stupidity above and beyond the call of duty.

They are indeed stupid just like the truthers. But what was the legal charge for the $20,000 fine?

Why was this person given a $20,000 fine?

If you make frivolous court motions, you can be sanctioned under the federal rules of civil procedure.

Just to make sure everything's clear, the SC didn't so much "order" that she pay this fine as it did decline to hear her appeal from the 11th Circuit's decision upholding the trial judge's order assigning her the fine.

edit: Here's the full order if you're interested

Looks like she was fined for filing a frivolous lawsuit.

Probably says why in the article.

Ok. Thanks for clarifying. I was just wondering if there was a legal reason (and now I know there is).

On a serious note. Birthers are the biggest dumbasses ever.

That is all.

Re: 'Birther' leader Orly Taitz ordered by Supreme Court to pay $20,000 fine for 'fri

Well surely the pundits who helped instigate this stupidity will pitch in to help her pay the fine, right?
What is that sound? Oh, deafening silence.....

In other news, Orly Taitz has sued the Supreme Court. According to the lawsuit, Justice Roberts, Justice Alito, and Justice Scalia have not provided her with long forms of their birth certificates, leading her to charge that they do not meet qualifications to be on the Supreme Court. One is suspected of being Obama's Kenyan stepbrother, another is suspected of being in the Mafia in Palermo, Sicily, and the third is not even a human, but a partridge, who spends all day sitting in pear trees, pondering the great legal questions of the day.

I love the idea of people filing frivolous lawsuits being fined. Lawyers who file frivolous lawsuits should have their license revoked. If only those judges were around when that idiot decided to sue because she was dumb enough to place a cup of hot liquid between her legs.

I heard that load of crap many times already. The fact is the coffee was brewed around the optimum temperature. McDonalds shouldn't make their coffee significantly colder or put caution hot on their coffee cups just because some dumb ass put a cup of hot liquid between her legs. In what world is it smart to put a cup of liquid between your legs especially hot liquid? Its because that twit and her greedy ambulance chaser winning that frivolous lawsuits that paved the way for lard asses suing fast food because they ate one too many cheeseburgers and got fat and why manufactures have to greedy ambulance chasing rat lawyer proof everything by putting obvious warnings on package like caution sharp on a box of razors or warning contains peanuts on a jar of peanut butter.

Yeah, blah blah blah whatever. Don't let facts get in the way of a good rant. Carry on in your willful ignorance ...

Yes don't let the facts like you don't put a cup of liquid anything between your legs get in your way. Don't let the fact that the coffee was stored around at optimum temperature before being served get in your way either.

How To Brew Coffee - National Coffee Association
Brewed coffee should be enjoyed immediately!

Pour it into a warmed mug or coffee cup so that it will maintain its temperature as long as possible. Brewed coffee begins to lose its optimal taste moments after brewing so only brew as much coffee as will be consumed immediately. If it will be a few minutes before it will be served, the temperature should be maintained at 180 - 185 degrees Fahrenheit.
