Re: Ground Zero mosque bad idea: Canadian Muslims

This project has been planned on this property since long before 9/11. It's not only a property rights issue, it's a tolerance issue. Our tolerance of all religions, not just our favorite ones.

Besides, this has nothing to do with "sensitivity" and everything to do with intolerance, since mosque protests are springing up all over the USA. A Sac Bee article from last Sunday listed nearly a dozen such protests in the past few weeks. People are trying to justify bigotry, in my opinion.

That's not what our nation is about.

Ironically, many of those who are protesting this actually share some of the same ideals as the terrorists over in the Middle East: The idea that religion should be part of our laws, that the government should recognize one religion as superior to others, and that it is acceptable for the government to ban or limit access to religions that they disagree with.

Yeah, well, I've seen it so many times on this forum I've lost count.

Given that Canadian and European politics tend to be more liberal than American politics, the disagreement doesn't surprise me -- it's the selective dismissal of outsider opinions that I think is two-faced.
I'm already gearing up for Finger Vote 2014.

Just for reference, means my post was a giant steaming pile of sarcasm.

I haven't seen that happen on this forum. Activity on this forum is what I was commenting on.

There was another thread posted here that I saw before that has a video interview. Looks like it made Fox News. Here's the video link: Eyeblast.tv. It's worth the watch, the board member has some pretty good points.

Hmmm. I suppose that those who protested Catholic Churches think that all Catholics were supporters of the IRA? I dunno. I do know this is getting out of hand with people calling for the govenrment to confiscate the land.

What is so amusing is that they are often the same people who say Muslims attacked us for our freedoms...so let's deny them freedoms? Oh wait. I'm lost.

Just because something is a bad idea doesn't mean it's illegal.

You know, this whole controversy is exactly what the Taliban wants. Now they can point at us and say "See? We told you they hate us." Great recruiting tool; hey thanks for helping our enemies out here.
That's precisely what people don't get. Newt Gingrich's statements about the mosque are perfect fodder for terrorist recruitment.

All we need to do is continue to disprove to the world that we're a nation of freedom of religion. Let's just advertise that we support freedom of religion except Islam. I'm sure that will stop the terrorists.

Hell, if we're going to claim that they attacked us for our freedoms let's actually practice such freedoms.

    Seems fair to me.
