Gregg Gutfeld Says He Plans to Open Gay Bar Next to Mosque

Well thats just it, the mosque isn't in poor taste at all. It doesn't warrant such a mean-spirited reaction as this comedy routine from Gutfeld, which is really just a series of vulgar slurs, in very poor taste. I'm a fan of red-eye, and I think Greg Gutfeld is better than this, but he's a right-wing comedian so it seems to me he's pandering to the bigoted reactionary response to the mosque.

LOL....

Now we have right wing comedians....

What if your purpose was primarily humor-related? Would that still piss you off just as much?

See, I'm fully in favor of a gay club being allowed on this block. I see no reason, whatsoever, that it shouldn't be allowed, unless there is some existing zoning that prohibits serving alcohol.

I'm in favor of it to and I support them building it. I think it's funny. However, I think those who want to build it purely out of spite are a tad hypocritical in that they are doing the very action they don't want the mosque builders to do.

I think that allowing gay men a warm and welcoming place to gather in this neighborhood would INDEED promote tolerance and diversity.

Are you people anti-gay or something?

According to you. Many Americans completely disagree with that statment.

And this Imam has ties to Hamas and said America is responsible for 9.11 Now explain again how this is different?

Welcome to Glen Beck: 101. Hypocrisy is his speciality.

For us, I welcome the opportunity for dialogue and diversity, so I believe both should be built.

^.^

I'm with ya Catz...I think they should build it, and loved the Gay men dancing line.....

The zoning is legal for a religious building, but may not be legal for a strip club, since strip clubs are usually not allowed in residential areas.

They've already confirmed the zoning is there. The question still stands....

I don't make zoning decisions in Manhattan, so I don't have the information necessary to answer this question.

Has Mr. Gutfield applied for a business license and building permit? The responses he receives would likely answer your questions.

LOL Talk about a punt. Is he allowed to open a business? I didn't ask you about building permits and license. Answer the question

How offensive something is primarily resides in the eye of the beholder. I find the mosque offensive. Who are you to tell me that I'm not allowed to find it offensive?

Well, I never said you aren't allowed to find it offensive. Likewise, you can't tell me I'm not allowed to find Gutfeld's jokes offensive. We're both within our rights.

Just pointing out the hypocracy of supporting the Mosque based on free speech but not the bar.

Well you said it right there. The many Americans that completely disagree with that statement are dead wrong.

He's allowed to open a business, but the location of that business may be regulated by local codes.

For the record, I hope he does. I feel this would be karmically beautiful.

Let them open the gay bar next door to the Islamic center. I think it's a great idea and the perfect test to the claims of wanting to promote tolerance and diversity by the Muslim project leaders. If they dare object, it'll be clear they're full of ****.

On the basis of free speech, I support both. However, local zoning ordinances limit the types of businesses which can locate in specific areas. That has nothing to do with free speech, and everything to do with community planning.

I agree with this statement completely, and if I thought for a second that Gutfeld actually intended to build a real gay bar there I would support him 100%. But he doesn't have any serious desire to do so, that much is obvious. It's just an excuse to make homophobic and xenophobic puns, which I find very tacky to say the least.

Agreed. It would be a good thing. Not going to lie, I do look forward to seeing how things play out :giggle:

The puns are hilarious, frankly, and most gay men would be the first to laugh at them.

And, he does have a valid point. Islamics in the U.S. and elsewhere expect tolerance to be shown to them, but the record suggests that they don't have much of a track record of extending tolerance to other people.

Mr. Gutfield makes that point exceptionally well and in a humorous way. Tolerance is good, but if you expect it, you better be prepared to extend it. Muslims are notoriously intolerant of gays and lesbians, and really, anyone who doesn't tiptoe around their archaic views.

That's anachronistic with the American way of life, and I refuse to extend courtesies to them that they refuse to extend to other people.

I do have one fear though, that extremists might try to harm Muslims homosexuals. In Europe there is an increasing amount of violence by Muslims against homosexuals. Knowing that these people claim to be Muslim and are gay might set off a few lose crazies. The bar better have some tight security.

Your posts in this thread are not actually sincere, that much is obvious..........

If zoning becomes a problem then place a Christian book store on one side, and a jewish synagogue on the other....See how diverse they are then.

Yeah, because the mosque folks aren't "homophobic" and "xenophobic" at all habibi....

Then why are you fighting it for 6 pages?

I know, it's true. Red-Eye is actually a funny show, and despite being on Fox News they've got a liberal co-host who can more than hold his own against Gutfeld.

As I've already stated, the zoning is already correct.
