I don't have a problem if certain businesses like in the financial sector, or retail run credit reports. But I am trying to figure out why an Engineer would need to necessarily have a good credit score? TOJ mentioned that he wouldn't want to hire someone that couldn't get a loan, My question is why is that? Is TOJ requiring his technical engineers to take out personal loans for his business?
Credit Scoring and criteria is IMHO a worse system that used to exist in the first place. It takes nothing into account about a persons circumstance. But then who am I to tell any business not to do it? What gets me is when Auto Insurance companies started using FICO scores to determine rates. As if somehow, slow pay, or credit problems are an indication of your driving ability.
I already have way too many regulations to adhere to as well as additional costs by virtue of having an existing pool of employees.
Aren't these hiring arguments a little bit non-applicable considering that no one is hiring?
I've known completely irresponsible assholes that got a job that required credit checks. I fail to see how one jumps from "this guy got a little behind on his bills" to "this guy could steal from us". One is just something that happens to most people at one point or another in their life, the other is a felony. I'm going to give the majority of people the benefit of the doubt and say they know the major differences between both of them.
"We’re going to close the unproductive tax loopholes that allow some of the truly wealthy to avoid paying their fair share. In theory, some of those loopholes were understandable, but in practice they sometimes made it possible for millionaires to pay nothing, while a bus driver was paying ten percent of his salary, and that’s crazy." -Reagan
