40 US billionaires pledge half wealth to charity

I have so much Russian 7.62 ball (how can it be ball when it has a hollow point?) that is still in the water proof wrapper, that all it makes sense to do is go home and polish the sights.

wolf or bear?

Do you believe people are responsible for their own decisions?

many people are afraid to live without a nanny state cushioning their fall.

many also project their inability to take care of themselves onto others as well

I do, but I also don't assume that someone's decisions are the sole determination of what happens to them in life. There has to be balance for things that they are not in control of.

There used to be a time when people took responsibility for their own destinies, and didn't look to the government to provide for them.

I am 46 years old and I remember back when I was a kid, people took pride in making their own way, without the governments help. In fact, taking government cheese back then was considered an embarrassment, and often people refused it out of sheer pride. Thanks to the progressives movement toward a socialist, nanny state, those days are long gone. Now, people have no sense of pride, and actually demand that the government provide for their every need. It's a real shame what the liberal agenda has done to American society.

How "nice" of these billionaires. They are going to give 50% of their money to charity, rather than have 55% of it confiscated by the government when they die.

It's a good move. If I made that money, I'd rather have that little bit of say on how it's going to be spent than to give that say over to politicians.

All depends, at least to me, which charities they gve the money to. :)

Obama has got to be pissed. I mean, how's he going to tax this out of them if they give it away? The nerve of these rich Republicans.
