Texas Inmates Likely to Be Exonerated After Committee Discovers Wrongful Convictions

Re: Texas Inmates Likely to Be Exonerated After Committee Discovers Wrongful Convicti

More petty shots because he has nothing. Its sad but for him its commonplace.

The south has much innocent blood on its hands. Hurling ad-hom insults isn't going to change this fact.

Re: Texas Inmates Likely to Be Exonerated After Committee Discovers Wrongful Convicti

No, but I can sure show you how many people have been found innocent that were sitting on death row, as well as how many were found innocent AFTER being executed.

Death Penalty

I'm not saying the death penalty is well-used right now. But there are certainly circumstances where it should be. I'm not going into details as far as that's concerned because there are too many, but there are definitely times.

So does EVERY other state. Claiming otherwise doesn't change this fact.

Re: Texas Inmates Likely to Be Exonerated After Committee Discovers Wrongful Convicti

So you are therefore claiming that an innocent man was not put to death?

I am dying to hear your answer.

Your lack of evidence to produce a shred of evidence for any of your bigoted claims wins you this richly deserved title:

Look. If the death penalty was foolproof, I would be the very first in line, volunteering to throw the switch. But it's not, and that is the problem.

First of all, the extraordinary protections afforded to the defendant and if its a lack of money for legal resources is not an issue for if, the defendant doesn't have them, the capital crimes unit of the public defender's office will do it. The state foots both sides of the bill.

Should extraordinary protections be given? Of course, no doubt. As a matter of fact, the state cares MUCH more for the rights of the defendant than he/she EVER did for the rights of his/her victims

Re: Texas Inmates Likely to Be Exonerated After Committee Discovers Wrongful Convicti

If that's true then he should be tried and convicted. That's truly DISGUSTING.

Thank you for your honest answer, and THIS is why I am against the death penalty. It is only one reason, but it is reason enough. I used to be for the death penalty.

Re: Texas Inmates Likely to Be Exonerated After Committee Discovers Wrongful Convicti

Unfortunately, there's no "zero doubt" situations in any human enterprise.

That's why I oppose the death penalty.

Yes there is. What if they are caugh on tape, what if they come out to the police and brag about what they did? These are pretty clear cut and 100%.

Umm, are you seriously suggesting that the South does not have innocent blood on it's hands?

Re: Texas Inmates Likely to Be Exonerated After Committee Discovers Wrongful Convicti

Maybe they're confessing to protect someone else. Maybe they've been pressured into confessing.

A confession is a long, long way from absolute certainty.

If they are that stupid? They deserve to be killed based on how stupid it is to confess to a crime they did not commit. Consider it a favor to mankind to get rid of that kind of stupid.

I'm saying EVERY state has innocent blood on his hands. To pretend its only in one region is laughable at best.

The reason I'm for the death penalty?

If I ever had to witness any harm done to my family, girlfriend (who I wish was a fiance or wife, but I'm strapped for cash) or even a friend then I would want to use a vegetable peeler on every inch of their body before charring them. The death penalty wouldn't be enough for me. Some people in some situation deserve the death penalty. I believe there are some clear-cut cases where it should be applied. I also believe there are many cases where it has been and shouldn't have been.

In theory I'm 100% for the death penalty. In practice, I'm probably not quite there. I'm stuck between being sickened by the loss of innocent life and disgusted by the existence of guilty life.

If someone confesses to a crime he or she did not commit, and is executed for it, that means that the person who really did the crime is still out there. Yet you would prefer to execute the one who confessed because he is stupid?!!!

I wouldn't; although provided they just want credit for it and are able-minded or if they are taking the fall for someone intentionally then I wouldn't mourn their loss.

Keep that "being sickened by the loss of innocent life" side alive. It is what makes us human. And yes, I am disgusted by the existence of guilty life too, but I will never again support taking an innocent life, so that I can have justification that those who commit crimes should die.

Except they enjoy free meals, housing and a gym on the tax payers dime.

Do not forget the drugs and killer homemade booze:) And an education. Which really pisses me.

Yep. You that dumb to do it? You deserve death. Would You ever confess to a crime you did not commit? I sure as hell would not.

I dont' know. If I was kept awake for a couple of days, subjected to psychological torture, and then told that I would be released if I just confessed....... I still wouldn't confess, but there are many who would. For some detectives here in Texas, it is their modus operandi.

I'm sure that side will never die. I've never supported the taking of an innocent life. I even specified that I wanted 100% surity before someone was given the DP. I never have and never will condone the killing of innocents.

There should be a law against this. I'm still for "innocent until proven guilty". Someone who hasn't been proven guilty beyond any doubt should not receive ANY kind of torture.

I agree. I remember, back in the 1970's, when the Police Chief of Jacinto City was put on trial for waterboarding to get confessions.

Re: Texas Inmates Likely to Be Exonerated After Committee Discovers Wrongful Convicti

What you don't realize is that it costs you and the taxpayers money when someone DOESN'T confess and it has to go to trial. Killing someone because they confess pretty much guarantees anyone with half a brain cell will not confess to anything meaning every single case will be a maximum cost to the taxpayer. I mean c'mon dude. If someone knows that they'll stick a needle in his arm if he confesses, why the **** would ANYONE confess?

Someone could confess to a murder they didn't commit because they are mentally retarded. Does that mean that we start filling the hypodermic needles when they start talking? Of course not. Hey look, the guy who they say killed Adam Walsh was never proven in court to have killed him. He confessed to hundreds of murders he didn't commit because he was mentally ill. To this day nobody knows who killed Adam Walsh and they CERTAINLY don't know if he was sexually assaulted because they only found his head. How can you pass the "Adam Walsh" sex offender act when there was no proof, besides the word of a mentally ill man, that Adam was sexually assaulted? Ugh, I hate John Walsh.

C'mon RWNJ, you're smarter than this.

Mentally ill people should never be killed as they know not what they do which is why we have laws that protect the mentally ill.
