See...I think this is kind of bull****. If you watch the video...ms Sherrod was calling HERSELF to repentence and accountability. She was pointing out that she recognized in HERSELF the bigotry that she was displaying and she moved to correct her actions. God bless her we NEED more people like her in positions of power and authority.

Anyone that DOESNT believe that ALL PARTIES...ALL RACES...ALL GROUPS have members and representatives that are or have racial biases is either a liar or a fool. But there are enough legitimate cases of racism that need to be and should be addressed. This particular person and case is not one of them. maybe a slap on the wrist, but MAYBE a promotion. Based on what little of her I know and have seen (which is admittedly not much) I'd be THRILLED to have her running my office.

Obama should be ashamed of himself. Brietbart produces a tape that they heavily edited, that misrepresents what she said, and the administration demands her head on a platter?

1) I hope she sues Breitbart for defamation.

2) Shame on you, Obama.

Looks like the talk radio spin machine now has some REAL ammunition on Obama, who is willing to throw loyal employees to the wolves over lies.

The right thing to do is for the President WITH Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack right beside him to to on national television and publicly apologize to Mrs. Sherrod and rehire her on the stop!! Whether or not she takes the job back is up to her, but both the President and the AgSec need to publically apologize to this woman.

There is plenty of blame to go around. A lot of posters here jumped to conclusions. CNN ran that clip as did Fox News. The NAACP was so spun up over their rhetoric about the Tea Party that in their haste to show they WERENT supporting racist they condemend a woman without knowing the facts. The Obama White house did the same thing they did in Camden...ran their mouth without knowing the facts, then without so much as conducting an interview with the woman, they demanded she resign, all in the name of politics. Oh...theres plenty of blame and shame to go around.

And lets not forget the audience members...they werent exactly APPALLED when in Ms Sherrod was giving her accounting. there was an awful lot of clapping and uh huh 'n and approval, prior to her relaying that 'teachable moment'

You can spin it all you like but you can't take back what she said or that smirk on her face when she said it.

True all what you said, but the buck still stops with Obama here. He didn't want to give her a chance to explain her side of the story, but chose to take the word of a race baiting scumbag over hers instead, the same scumbag who has also helped to disseminate "birther" lies about him.

Shame on you, Mr. President. You are a ****ing idiot.

Maybe thats why he so readily took Breitbarts word. Race baiting scumbags apparently know their own...

I see. It's all spin, right? You might ask the white farmer about what happened.

Of course, with your ilk, the word of Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck counts for more than the people who were actually there.

What the audience was clapping about was her Mrs. Sheddon's earlier comments concerning how some White individuals back in the 60's finally received justice under the law for their mistreatment of Blacks. Had nothing to do with her commentary of how she initially treated Mr. Spooner. But I digress...

Everyone shares some blame here. As such, here's what I sent to the White House on this matter:

"Dear Mr. President:

I am writing in sponse to the firing of Mrs. Shirley Sherrod, the former Georgia state Director of Rural Development, in the wake of a vile attack on her person to paint her as a racist.

Mr. President, I am ashamed of myself. I am ashamed because just as millions of Americans, I too jumped to conclusions and condemned this woman's actions before having access to the full unedited video that does more to hail this woman's endeavours to foster better race relations in this country than the edited video does to paint her as a racist. After reviewing the unedited video in its entirety, I humbly and respectfully request that you along with the Agriculture Secretary, Mr. Tom Vilsack, go before the American people and not only render a public apology to Mrs. Sheddon but also reinstate her to her previously held position within the Department of Agriculture.

The travesty bestowed upon Mrs. Sheddon is a blame every American should share. We owe her an apology of the highest standards not just to foster race relations as she has worked tirelessly to do, but because it is the right thing to do."

We're all to blame.

Looks like an open and humble response. I hope it happens. I suspect the White House will blame their own stupidity on others and I highly doubt their response will be as sincere as yours.

Hopefully a lot of good will come from this whole situation. Fox needs to do the right thing and apologize profusely, as does President Obama. We all know this stuff happens, but this lady was brave enough to tell it in a speech. Although Fox was guilty of misrepresenting the story, Obama really needs to do the right thing and apologize publically, rehire her, and maybe even promote her. This is what most of us would like to see. We need a happy ending.

Yeah, they'll probably blame Bush.

Of course, with your ilk, the word of Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck counts for more than the people who were actually there.

Who gives a **** what she said later? The clip was the most vile bit of racism this side of a KKK meeting. Flip it around, is she were a white woman talking about a black farmer, and that clip went out... you wouldn't be here defending her no matter HOW much she, the family or anyone came forward to give "the rest of her story".

Faux Outrage Dan, but I don't expect anything less from someone so keen to be seen as a "good docile conservative, ever ready to be liked."

We got a happy ending, she got fired.

Yeah, they'll probably blame Bush.

So what....there is a connection.....

Don't you see it?

Bush is a white guy and this farmer is a white guy.
Do I have to put it on a blackboard for you?:2wave:

Who gives a **** what she said later?

Yeah! What need are facts?! They only get in the way of the decision we have already made!

Right, because people who tell us stories about how they believed 20 years ago and how their views have become enlightened over time are meaningless! No one should ever be allowed to change their minds or see the light!

After all, that's what intelligent, well-meaning, and honest people do, and we can't have that in America!!! Hatred, distrust, and anger -- that's the Vicchio way! Just like Jesus preached!

The wife of the farmer. And yes I know the story. It doesn't change what she said or how she delivered it.

Rush Limbaugh? Another unsubstantiated assumption, well done.

Now go ahead and explain what she said in that tape that she did the minimum because it was a white farmer isn't racist.

I'll wait.

Yeah! What need are facts?! They only get in the way of the decision we have already made!

Yeah! Let's just ignore what she said then and only read what she said after she got caught!

The edited clip sure was. The orginal clip, before the heavy editing by the scumbag race-baiter Breitbart, was nothing of the sort. What Breitbard did to doctor the clip was nothing short of slander.

How did his editing make what she said not racist?

Oh thats right, IT DOESN'T

Until you can explain how saying you would only do the minimum for a person based on race you don't have a leg to stand on.

No, we're talking about what she said not less than five minutes later. The part that was edited out by the right wing media to completely change the meaning of the story.

What she said was basically this: "Years ago, I held racist views. I then learned from my mistake."

The edit was released as "I held racist views."

When I first read about this, I reacted the same way you did -- that woman needs to be fired.

Then I LEARNED. Then I found out some facts. And it was clear that the way it was presented was incomplete and wrong, and that she was speaking out AGAINST racism.

It's very clear. Your inability to admit that only shows your bias.
