USDA Official Saying She Didn't Give 'Full Force' of Help to White Farmer resigns

What nobody is mentioning was that her remarks were intended to show the members of the NAACP at that meeting that poverty transcends race.

Why that would mean they might have to accept that they made a mistake and this little snippet DIDNT actually support their position. No...we cant have that.

I SO couldnt run for government office...

Wait a minute, what are the facts of these cases? A black lady says she acted in a racist manner in handling her government job. Nothing happens. Information becomes public by Fox and the lady resigns from her position. What is there to condemn?

Facts of another case. Tea Party people have various demonstrations. There are occasional demonstrations of racism by some members. Nothing happens. NAACP makes information public. One of the Tea Party people is kicked out after racist writing.

In both cases, Fox and NAACP made information public. In the first case, NAACP gets condemned for racism. So are we supposed to condemn racism by Fox for only publicizing the second case and not the first.

I'm confused where anyone is doing anything wrong in both of these cases with the exception of the racist behavior. NAACP is supposed to look after the rights of African Americans, Fox is supposed to look after the rights of conservatives. Looks pretty even to me.

This did report the case about the tea party. Step away from moveon.org.....

Andrew Breitbart strikes again!

I can't wait for the excuses from the NAACP and the progressive left.

FOXNews.com - Video Shows USDA Official Saying She Didn't Give 'Full Force' of Help to White Farmer

YouTube - NAACP Bigotry in their ranks

Strikes again?

I find it hard to believe that anyone still takes this clown seriously.

What would you say if Daily kos released a selectively edited clip of a conservative like this without the full context? I'm betting you're first reaction wouldn't be to raise a pitchfork up to the conservative as you are doing to this lady.

Every conservative in this thread that thinks that this video proves that the NAACP is a racist organization needs to lay off the kool aid and think for themselves.

I wonder if you'd be so generous if this was a conservative we were discussing.

I wonder if you'd be so niave to think it'd be different.

For example, I'd have nothing but love for a Westboro Baptist Church Member or a KKK member who had something happened that changed their view and renounced their old viewpoints. Telling the story of how they changed their views, has no bearing on my opinion of them as they are now, and their are certain exceptions such as if the KKK member lynched a black man, but even then, he should stand trial for what he did, but more power to him for renouncing his views anyway.

I actually had a chance to write a character for a show I did. And my character was a 1920's KKK white Farmer. Who hated blacks with a passion, and had once in a mob mentality participated in a lynching. But one day, his daughter was swimming in the river near the border of the farm, and she got swept up in the current, my character could not swim, but one of his black farmhands could, and jumped in to save his daughter. From that day forth he changed his mind completely but society at that point didn't allow him to stop going to Klan Meetings or to openly admit that blacks were equal. - Jetboogieman

Now that might be general rambling. But let he who is without sin cast the first stone in this case.

I feel quite proud to know Tom Leyden, a former skinhead who has renounced his racist views and now works to provide training on the skinhead movement to law enforcement.

Facts be damned.

That statement is another example of the inherent dishonesty that the progressive movement thrives on. If you can't dispute the facts, just attack and smear...

Keep up the good work comrade... Karl Marx would be proud if he were alive today.

We are disputing the facts, lol. Are you that lost?

She was telling a story that the main message of is that you shouldn't be prejudiced.

Only a hyper partisan would try to twist that into something damning.

And there you have it, folks! A classic "tit-for'tat".

To put this in perspective...

A Liberal organization looking after its own.

A Conservative media outlet doing what they believe was necessary to "even the score".

Only difference here is the black USDA employee admitted to her wrong doing and subsequently resigned of her own accord, whereas, the extreme Tea Party member had to be kicked out and has yet to acknowledge his wrong-doing. Doesn't seem quite fair to me, but regardless both were wrong for their racist conduct. Just seems as though the woman learned her lesson long beforehand, whereas, the Tea Party member may well continue with his deplorable actions. Doesn't seem fair does it?

I agree with you. This lady admitting her racism goes further than Tea Party folks who claimed that they never saw racism "ever" at a TP gathering.

But I also want to stress that organizations are set up to be advocates for a certain block of people, not just liberal. This is not unreasonable. Just like we also have the Georgia Farm Bureau (the discrimination was against a Georgia farmer, right) who's states the following as their purpose:

"The purpose of the Georgia Farm Bureau Federation, as the largest farm organization in Georgia, is to provide leadership and assistance to the agricultural sector, to promote farm products.."
Georgia Farm Bureau - About Us Yeah, farmers organizations are there for farmers.

NAACP is the National Association for the Advancement of COLORED People. Thus, black americans, who have been the subject of horrendous discrimination practices (slavery has to top the list) in the US, are allowed to have an organization to change and protect this groups rights. If you a farmer in Georgia, you go to the GFBF for support. This is within the individual purposes of these groups.

I guess what I'm getting to is that if an organization is honest about what they representing (and its not against the law) and they're upfront about it, there is nothing wrong with this. Now Fox News??? I think their slogan is "Fair and Balanced." Uh, huh.

Damn, you're getting the people mixed up again. Karl Marx is not known for propaganda, that was the Nazis. But I know that example has been getting a workout lately.

EDIT PS-You're not a Tea Partier, are you? Could you explain why the Iowa Tea Party people used Lenin in their ad? Usually its always Stalin.

Thats bull****. People like that...even if they change should NEVER be allowed to demonstrate that change to others or help people learn and grow from their experience!

A quote from the video after she made her declaration that it's about the poor:

"It's not so much about white... it is about white and black but it's not... you know..."

What she clearly said is, that race does play a part in how she did her job, but other factors were also considered. Race should have played NO part in the decisions she made, but it did, and does.

What part of that do you not understand?

And every lib that believes that the Tea Party is chock full of racism should do the same....

To portray Tea Party members as rabid red-necked racists, Think Progress has been caught red-handed doctoring videos in an effort to make Tea Party patriots look like racists.

Oh yes, there are racists in the videos, but they are not patriots. They are infiltrators from the left’s failed “Crash the Tea Party” drive that were called out, videotaped and exposed by patriots during previous Tea Party gatherings.

Could somebody pull out the dictionary and tell me what the definition is of "chock full." Is that a mathematic term? The only time I can remember that being used is in chock full of nuts. Please define.

Looks like the wife of the farmer in question just did an interview and defended Sherrod.

Well maybe some of "her own kind" and the NAACP can bring suit against the White House for being racist against blacks.

Since it has already been provided for you by my very able colleague here, suffice to say my snarky friend, I see you can dish it, but have a hard time taking it.....typical.

I think the admin and the NAACP are just nervously trying to avoid controversy. Elections are coming up and the news cycle is so short that you have to respond to crap like this because all people remember half the time is the original story, not the end result of responsible investigation.

It's possible she could win a wrongful firing case of some kind, but I don't think it will be based on racial discrimination.

The "White House" isnt known for giving reasoned and rational thought about ****. The White House is known for giving knee jerk politically motivated responses without actually thinking things through or reading legislation before they speak, act, or even sign things into law.

But MAYBE...in an act that would set them apart from "the White House", the posters on THIS blog...and this thread in particularly, might demonstrate some character and integrity and actually admit that THEY were guilty of doing the same thing the White House did...knee jerk responding in a mindless and biased manner...and on this particular issue, they were wrong.

What a concept...NOT that I will be holding my breath in anticipation...

If thats the "official" dictionary for that word, I suppose I need to tell you you left out the dash.

Your use: chock full Dictionary: chock-full

Just looking for truth, aren't you? Where does anyone say that the Tea Party is made up mostly of racists? The NAACP does not. Doesn't this just allow you to push the debate into something no one has said.

Source? (EDIT PS-Some Tea Party member's blog does not count-need a quote)

the Obama administration was correct to push this appointed employee out (2009 appointment - thankfully, she was still in her probationary period for the federal position)
had she not resigned she would have been drummed out administratively for her actions which worked against the public's perception of the USDA
she acknowledged she performed her official duties differently, depending on the race of the citizen needing her USDA office's assistance. that was tacit evidence of discrimination - a self admission
but now she is complaining - after she voluntarily executed the resignation document
it only confirms her cluelessness that she resigned and now complains that she was under pressure to resign
the underlying problem is that Obama's political appointees have been as awful as dubya bin lyin's political hacks
and that is a difficult admission to make. the level of incompetence of his appointees was not expected (by me, anyway)

Dunno - to me what she did at the time and what she conveyed to the NAACP was racist. She told a racist story. Now that it comes out she became friends with the farmer - that doesn't lessen or excuse anything. It was 1968 - one can say well --- it was the "times". Perhaps. And knee jerk by this White House? Absolutely - they wouldn't know a measured or thoughtful response if it bit them in the ass.

There is a moral to the story though: Don't tell racist stories to groups of people where you have even a chance of being put on video. You can and will be held accountable for your past misdeeds.

Remember: Macaca? No one ever heard of the word before ... but it was enough to cause outrage. And let's put this into perspective and turn it around. Let's say she was not black but was white - and these were poor black farmers. The same thing would have occurred - she would have been fired and the big outrage would have played out in the media just as it is now. In fact, this might be the most even handed and un-racist act, now that I think about it, the White House has divvied out. This would have happened if she was white, and it happened the same way that she was black. Hm... I may have to think about this some more and I might take back what I said about the White House.
