The problem with aiding Africa is, what do they do after you send them aid?

There's no real economic development for most of them but they still reproduce, requiring more aid for those new people.

Hence why we need to stop aid as a primary focus and do trade. Africa does have growth but it's not matched by population growth. And the massive debt they have isn't helping.

    Ohh I agree completely.

You stop aid though and the bleeding hearts will pour out of the wood works.

Africa still does need aid, it just needs to be less of a focus. Jeffery Sach's idea isn't bad and isn't that expensive. Remember that if we don't solve the primary problems underlying the economic problems, trade won't help. Basically, we need to help them get on the first rung of the economic prosperity ladder. And then move them up with trade.

I agree with everything you stated. The OP said Africans are lucky for getting what they get and if he was in charge they would get nothing. What the country should do is irrelevant compared to an individual who claims to be christian, and has told me that I have a problem WITH chrsitians. If people are going to claim to be Christian, but then delibarately and outright defy Christian principles in a way that interferes with my opinions then yes, I am going to point out that they are out of line with their religion and they should not be toting that line.

Repeatedly sweeping their legs and asking why they don't pick themselves up.

Tell me what Charity can provide at cost millions of drugs for decades on end. Please attempt to. I fully understand the agreements made by the drug industry with global health quasi-NGOs and governments to make specialized rules that bypass TRIPs to allow producers in Israeli and India and Argentina as well as produce millions of retrovials to African countries.

You run of the mill charity cannot do that.

Here's an idea. Why don't we place conditions on aide? Let's face it, the aide, if in dollars, is gobbled up by the warlords, and or dictators. Let's stop putting the UN in charge of our dough, and do it ourselves. Think about it, Obama would then have a valid claim when he claims that new jobs are being created.

We could say screw you Africa..

In the US, Canada, and most of western society, heterosexuals have a statistically zero chance of acquiring HIV, so it's not our problem anymore. Certainly not justifying spending 4 times the amount we spend on Herat disease, cancer research, but, then again, that's just my opinion.
