Cap and Trade is back on the table, the Bush tax cuts are being allowed to sunset, I.R.S. powers have been increased, the death tax is being reinstated in 2011, and there have been internet usage taxes proposed as well as a newly instituted tanning bed tax.............

But taxes are not going up.
Nobody claimed that no taxes are going up.

Well, I think this is a good post -- letting some people know they're taxes went down. A lot of the tax credits to 'special interests', (and by that I mean, families with children, yada yada yada) are what make "the rest of us" nuts, though.

What your thread has pointed out, to me, is that our tax system needs a complete overhaul. Like throw it in the garbage and start over overhaul. (Like that's news. But Obama's 5-Minutes-To-File proclamation is a joke. 2009 Income Tax Instruction Booklet: 102 pages.

It does need to be trashed and started over with but you'll get much resistance as both parties have a vested interest in keeping it the way it currently is.
They both talk a big game with making it easier but that practically never happens.

You can pretty much guarantee that these types of things are purely political talking points to smooze ignorant voters.

Is that why he violated the Constitution, by signing off on a bill that forces American citizens to purchase a product, or face fine and/or prison? Maybe I need a constitutional scholar to explain to me how that is constitutional.

I know I used a question mark, but it was clear that you didn't read it. Because it didn't say what you were arguing against. What you wrote would have been a straw man, except you weren't actually aware of it, so I don't know what to call it.

Something like 46% of the Tea Partiers think their income taxes went up in 2009/2010. They would be wrong. The point isn't the amount, the point is that income taxes in 2009 were overall the lowest they have ever been. I'm not saying you should be impressed, I'm saying you shouldn't be wandering the streets with a sign saying Obama raised your taxes.

Well, our taxes are going up in 2011, what with the re-birth of old taxes and the introduction of new taxes. How can you brag about taxes being the lowest they've ever been, when you know damn well that they are going to be higher than ever, next year?
