Landmark commission hearing may determine future of ground zero mosque

I always love how the people most vehemently opposed to Islam are those who have come into contact with it the least.-

Which of the five main schools of Islamic Fiqh does not proscribe the death penalty and/or capital punishment for premarital sex, adultery, homosexuality, and/or apostasy?

FYI the answer is none, the Ulama in all the schools of Islamic fiqh have deemed that to be Ijma IE the only accepted view within mainstream Islam today.

Yes some or many muslims don't subscribe to those things but a) that says nothing about the policies of Islam anymore than a pro-choice Catholic has to say about the pro-life stance of the Catholic church, and B) they are not in a position to do anything about it and those who are either will not go against the leadership majority or support the views of that majority.

How ironic that you talk about lack of religious freedoms in Muslim dominated countries all the while thanking posters who support lack of religious freedom in the United States for Muslims by denying them the right to build their Mosque.

Thank you for showing YOUR religious intolerance.

hahaha Your lack of knowledge on the basic texts of Islam and your ducking of religious freedom in Muslim dominated countries supporting it is amusing.

Try reading a bit about this religion you are so quick to defend then take a look at the reality today.

Try reading a bit about this religion

Good advice. Take it.
Pick up a Qu'ran, go visit a Mosque.
And no, Jihadwatch is not acceptable sources for information about Islam

The Koran divides the world into 2 parts, the Dar-el-Islam (the house of Islam) and the Dar-el-Harb(the house of war). Guess which one we are?

Trick question?
I know what I am. Dar al-harb
Are you even fully aware of what the terms mean?

The root of the problem is the Koran. You can't change that and you can't change them.

Some day, many Americans will come to the realization that there cannot be peace between the Islamic world and the rest of us. One side will win and destroy the other, or we will be in a state of continual terrorist activities.

Or better yet find out what the Ijma is of the Ulama in every school of mainstream Islamic Fiqh. Mainstream Islam is violent and oppressive, it is Liberal Islam which is in the minority and they are considered heretics by the mainstream sects.

Still wondering why you go to the mosque of a mainstream sect if you don't support what that sect supports.

Just because a scholar says something does not mean every Muslim is obligated to follow it. Nothing makes them right and another wrong.
How many times do I have to go over the same simple point.
My Imam does not and never will preach for sharia, stonings, apostates or Non Muslims deaths (Hell he did not condemn my relationship with my Christian partner when I introduced them). That is why I love my Imam

Yep, really representatives of the people then aren't they? NOT!

Are you aware you are being extremely dishonest? You are now changing that argument away from zoning laws. Furthermore, there's nothing showing that the board who approved it did not follow zoning laws. You have lost here. The only question now is how deep a hole you will dig.

First off, a Communist state would care less about what the people want, kind of like how you libs are acting about this....hmmmmmm.

Fail. A communist state would not have private property laws.

Second, We do have property laws, you are correct.....Just ask those involved in the Kelo case.

j-mac

Do all of your arguments display this level of truly epic fail?

1) You have no logical argument against this
2) The land is privately owned
3) They passed zoning laws

Unlike Communist Russia where you clearly want to live, we evenly enforce property right laws.

the hysteria some FAKE conservatives are experiencing over this is hilarious!

Corrected. A real conservative would understand private property laws and support the construction of a legal building by its legal owners on their legally owned private land.

What we have here is a bunch of posers who only believe in such rights when it fits to their beliefs.

The Mosque is guaranteed to be built because we don't unevenly apply property laws. And if the legal owners of ground zero wanted to build a parking lot that is their right as legal owners of the land.

It's hilarious how some people on this thread say they are conservative, but whole hardly abandon the ideas of private personal property and what the state to ignore such property laws and prevent the legal owners of the land from building a legal building.

Heaven forbid enforcing private property laws and letting people do what they want with their own property. No! The state should totally come in and say "No you can't build that despite meeting all of the legal requirements to do so!"

Hypocrites. Every. Last. One. Of. Them.

Yes it is their right, but it is our right to protest these POS's and their violent and oppressive ideology. They decided to hold the groundbreaking on 9-11 with the clear intent to incite, those who defend their right to the Mosque I have no problem with, those who move beyond that and start defending the group or mainstream Islamic dogma which is completely antithetical to a liberal free society can GFTS's.

Ya Muslims aren't obligated to follow Islamic law.

What does he do to change the Ijma of the Ulama in the four schools of Islamic Fiqh in the Sunni branch of Islam? Anything? Or is he silently obsequent?

So it's all about pay back for you eh? Let's see, we did horrible things to the American Indian, so we deserved 9/11 is that right?

I know one other individual that believes that too.....His name? Ward Churchill.

j-mac

No j-mac. You're making a huge stretch when you suggest "pay back". I was simply pointing out that the World Trade Center's ground zero needs to be clearly defined. The proposed mosque building is going to be built two blocks away. How far away would it have to be before you would consent to the construction? The Indian burial ground example was only used because only the Indians knew where the boundaries were. We built over the top of these unmarked sites without even knowing that they were there.

It would seem that folks that want to wall off our country's border could grasp at what I'm trying to say here.

Thats BS and you know it

There is a fatal flaw that kills your argument. Namely that Imams consider themselves Muslims before any type of citizenry. Ask them. Then ask them where he got his guidance. Then he will all start posting quotes calling Islam to rule the world.

And that will be the end of the discussion.

I understand its hard for you to fully grasp this but the property rights are not the only concern. The source of the funds and the statements from the imam also come into play.

Being a conservative does not mean you are a walking zombie. Its clear you have no grasp of the obvious which is itself ironic.

You just won't give it and admit you are wrong will you?
Now I have fully explained it to you that my Imam is perfect you skip onto another argument
:lamo

Asked every Imam have you? No?
Then shh.

I just wanted to post some clarification. It seems from the media that the mosque will be built in the ground zero complex but its going to be built outside it and nearby. Cordoba House - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. I think its better that its not going to be a part of the ground zero complex, because anyone can build anything nearby. I am opposed to building the mosque, I don't think it's a good idea. The media makes it seem like the mosque will be a part of the official complex, but since its not, people can deal with the fact that its just some private group trying to make their statement.

I also don't think this mosque will be used to speak out against Muslim extremism, if it was, they should add some large memorial or tribute and make it about that. But I think it will probably just turn into another mosque used to promote the movement.

I commemorate all you Christian conservatives on being so Christ like to the whole Islamic religion. It must really suck to be you guys, fearful that every brown person may have an explosive strapped to him. Must be a stressful way to live!

Like I said though this argument between Muslims and Christians is basically "My imaginary friend has a bigger penis than your imaginary friend"

Well, I think that it's all a bunch of poppycock. Islam, Allah, Christianity, religion in general.

But I can't think of anything more offensive than a mosque being built anywhere NEAR the ashes of the Twin Towers. The very thought of it makes my blood boil. I am certain it will be regarded in the muslim world as the ultimate victory much like they have done in the past putting their mosques atop of their conquests and areas forever to be claimed Muslim. It would be like sticking a golden dagger in the corpse of every infidel that died in their glorious victory. It will be to them, like it was for us, the day our astronauts planted a flag into the moon.

If this is allowed, I will not only condone, but applaud any steps taken, vigilante, or otherwise, made to bring that mosque down. I hope our leaders know that we are watching and taking names. Washington is already on the wrong side of the people in their refusal to enforce immigration laws. This will be the straw that broke the camel's back to a LOT of people who remember 9/11. I hope they make the wise decision.

of course this will upset many but the constitution protects these people, I don't hold the Muslims building this mosque accountable for 9/11 so I don't really have more of a problem with it than I do with the baptist church down the road from me.

So you condone illegal actions against a group that had nothing to do with 9/11. Got it, how very un-American of you.

Your comments make me and many other true Americans sick.

If you hate it soo much, feel free to leave America since you hate that thing we have called the Constitution and all. We won't miss you.
