Too bad that's not what Islam does. What moronic statement will you make next?

Turning the other cheek for what? Are these Muslims the ones that blew up the trade center? What exactly are we turning the other cheek for allowing these AMERICAN Muslims to build a religious building like the Christians and other religions do?

WTF are you talking about? The very fact that Islamic women are treated as a domestic animal makes Islam incompatible with American values and ideals.

How is it a trophy Mosque when Muslims also died at the World Trade Center?

Actually it makes that one aspect incompatible with American values and I don't believe it is something which is practiced by all sects of Islam. The Mormon's used to practice polygamy as well (there are sects which still do, but this was more widespread). We didn't throw out all the Muslims, but they had to change the practice before Utah would be admitted into the Republic. Certain practices can change, and any practice that any religion holds which infringes upon the rights of others is one which is not permitted in the US.

Don't worry, I'll spell it out for you in all its tedious detail.

    Now, I said:

What's truly scary is how many people feel that way.
Obviously, I was referring to the mosque in the particular location of ground zero, and the people who oppose the mosque on the basis of its location. I never said anybody opposes mosques in other locations, that may or may not be true, but it is never what I was talking about, and that is very clear on a fair reading. Then you said:

    Nice try for a strawman....
"Nobody I know or have read is opposing the Mosque... they are opposing the location of the mosque." You imply that my argument is that the people I was referring to oppose mosques generally. Far from it, I am only talking about "the mosque" at issue, which people opposed based on its location. Hence, you are making me into a straw man. Come to think of it, since you actually call me a straw man in this post, it sounds like you don't really know what it means, do you?

That's a good point, it's not even rising to the level of turning the other cheek since that implies you were struck first. It's just about not hating a fearing people based on ignorant stereotypes about their religion. We should build a mosque there, it is a wonderful thing to do, it is a fearless thing to do, it is the Christian thing to do, and it is the human thing to do.

Or, we could act like savages who are afraid of others because they look a little different and practice a different religion, which is what the people who oppose this mosque are doing.

We have codified set of principles that form the framework of our country. We believe that everyone was created equal.

Does Islam believe that a woman has the right to be unaccompanied in public without having to fear being killed? Does Islam believe in the humane treatment?

Did Christianity at one time? Ever wonder where the tradition of the father giving away the bride came from? But we didn't throw out the whole of the religion. As our societies and governments changed and we began to recognize the base rights shared by everyone, our religions changed to adopt the laws and norms of the society. And I'm still not sure it's the whole of the varying sects of Islam which practice this oppression of women.
