Floridians, by and large, have made the decision that we prefer not to rely upon the oil industry, economically speaking. The end. The rest of the U.S. has zero say in the matter.

The less drilling that occurs near our shores, the less likelihood of a repeat incident.

Yep, in good times Florida is a big economy no doubt. But now, your unemployment is double digit, your housing market is through the floor, and you have politicians in place, and running that want to tax the bejesus out or you, including Crist that said he was a Conservative, then hugs Obama and backs the stimulus that has been a disaster.

    good show....keep it up!

Nonsense! Put down the bong Catz and smell the real world....less drilling means that we lose not only that employment base, but the oil that supplies the US, and the rigs that drill it. Economic disaster, more dependence on foreign sources, and $5.00 ++ at the pumps is all you libs want, regardless of what that would do to the lower middle class and the poor in this country.

And on top of that you think that will stop drilling off our shores? You're dreaming. Other countries will simply fill the void and sell our own oil back to us at a steep profit. But I know....Spread the wealth right? pfft!

Okay then go completely off Oil! If you don't want to take part in helping us get the stuff then don't use the stuff at all. Otherwise it's nothing more then hypocrisy to still use the stuff but refuse to take the risks and let others do it.

It would only be hypocrisy if we were somehow forcing others to take the risk. We're still paying for oil, we just don't want the drilling done in our state. If other states or countries want to risk oil spills, that is their business. I just don't see the hypocrisy.

j-mac, you have me shaking my head once again. If you were any kind of worried about Florida's lower middle class, then you'd be as interested in protecting our beaches, tourist dollars are the lifeblood for Florida's lower middle class. Once again, Floridians can only control what happens in Florida. If the Cubans or whoever want to drill in their jurisdiction, it isn't for us to say what they can and can't do. But what we in Florida can do is limit drilling within our own jurisdiction.

Once again I want to point out that it seems like Floridians are all of one mind on this subject, as much it is enrages out of staters who are ignorant about Florida's economy and politics. That should tell you something. Democracy works!

Oh, you're taking risks personally, Frozen Gale? What a moronic position.

Maybe you should only use oil if you have a job on an oil rig. That sounds fair by your logic, doesn't it?
Reality tends to have a liberal bias.
