What The Knicks Told LeBron: Come To New York And Make $1 Billion

This is ridiculous...

We need the pay czar to get in here. Its not fair that some guy dribbling a ball should get this much money when hard working American's are unemployed. We need the government in there and to limit NBA player saleries to those of CEOs

In high school I wondered why I had to bust my ass to get good marks for scholarships, and jocks were getting more valuable scholarships to go to the best schools. I respect physical ability but let's face it, athletes don't change the world. They're just entertainment. But as rathi has said, I guess they wouldn't be getting those scholarships if demand weren't so high for pro athletes for the drooling masses.

I do think our priorities are messed up when teachers, doctors, engineers, and the people who either build civilizations or provide their life blood are left in the dust compared to football or basketball players.

I completely agree, but in this era of fluff reporting, it was bound to happen. Just turn on the news, and what do you see? Who Madonna is banging this week, the latest episode of Lady Gaga pulling her panties down at a baseball game, yet another story on Michael Jackson, who has been dead for quite a while, who won the latest round of "America's Got Talent", and many other non-stories from the world of infotainment, including LeBron James.

But some people really want to know whatever happened to the kinds of hard hitting investigative journalism we used to have in the past. Where is it? In a safe somewhere at NBC General Electric, never to be seen again, unless we as a nation somehow begin to see ourselves as something more than a commodity for the media whores. Many Americans these days are too stoned on consumption and drunk on TV to demand something a little better than what we are watching the pablum puke that is being thrown at us.

Whose fault is this? Unfortunately, our own. The cure? For starters, you can throw your TV set in the garbage, and read a book. That is a good first step. There is nothing intellectually stimulating, or anything else conducive to critical thinking, in a TV set.

Big frigging deal. He has made it and people need to get over it. It is not like he is gonna be paid that by a team as their are salary caps. He is a "brand" and that brings in the bucks. I say go for it. Any of you bitching about how much he could make would you turn down that kind of money? Lets keep it real here.

Lets just hope he keeps passing around some of whatever he earns to help people.

I cannot hate on anybody for wanting to make money but it does make me kinda sick that we have became such a consumerism country and that there are sports figures, CEO's, etc. making this kind of bank when we have so many damn poor people in our country.

If we really wanna stop all this nonsense? Then we gotta stop spending buy those new kicks, shirts, etc. that rocks whoever name. We gotta stop supporting places that pay their CEO's soo much that they could put a serious stop on hunger, etc.

We/Consumers are why people like James can make this kind of money. Do not hate him-hate what we as a whole have become.

*forgive spelling and whatever cause I do not care and neither should you*
