Boehner wants to raise the retirement age to 70

Actually, FICA is among the more solvent government programs. It has at least 20 years before it is a real problem. FICA has been a great revenue source for the government... receipts far exceed expenditures. This is not a major near-term issue for our government....

And this is exactly the problem... they SPENT the money instead of investing it as they morally and ethically should have. This past year I was informed that incoming SS funds were no longer adequate to cover SS expenditures and the system was now "in the red". Solvent? Um...

So the US is gonna have 68 year old fire fighters and trash collectors now.. talk about inhuman treatment of the elderly.

If Bush had gotten his way and privatized SS there would be no SS, today, because of the economic meltdown.

That is the reality of it. For some people 70 is not old. I am 67 and I can pretty much do as much physical work as when I was young because my experience allows me to make up for it. Plus, I teach a lot of the younguns tricks that they will never learn from a book or a school.

I plan to die with my boots on. I like working.

Sorry but you dont have a clue. A trash collector or fire fighter or other jobs that are physically demanding can NOT work till they are 70 lol. They can barely work to 50 as it is, and you expect them to work 20 more years? Yea right.

Point is, having a cut off age for retirement is stupid since we are all different. I have no doubt that a computer geek can work till he is 70, but a bricklayer, or asphalt layer.. yea right.

Sorry back at ya. I do have a clue. I work in construction, specializing mostly in carpentry. I am still doing it.
