BP CEO Tony Hayward criticised for yacht trip

To be fair to that statement, many a father and son will not have a nice weekend for a long time because of what him and his company did...

What was he going to accomplish even if he did not go and stayed "hard at work" all weekend?

The answer: Nothing new.

To be fair to that statement, many a father and son will not have a nice weekend for a long time because of what him and his company did...

If you have a problem with Hayward's actions, you should be criticizing Obama's many outings, entertainment concerts and vacation.

Remember:

President Barack Obama said:
“The American people should know that from the moment this disaster began, the federal government has been in charge of the response effort." - 5/28/2010 Press Conference

Politics Daily said:
President Obama said Thursday he is "angry and frustrated" about the slow pace of capping the BP oil spill and that his administration is "singularly focused" on stopping the underwater gusher.
"My job is to get this fixed. And in case anybody wonders -- in any of your reporting, in case you're wondering who's responsible, I take responsibility. It is my job to make sure that everything is done to shut this down," Obama said during a press conference.

If you hold Hayward to the standard of no days off until this is fixed, I think that's fair and reasonable. I also think it's fair and reasonable to hold the person who says it's their responsibility to shut the oil leak down to that same standard.

I do believe that The Uncola is being a bit too harsh on President Obama.:lamo

[In case you can't tell, I'm being sarcastic. President Obama isn't a criminal; neither is Tony Hayward.]

You should try paying a little bit closer attention. This thread is about Tony Hayward, not President Barack Obama.

And I'm not being sarcastic, Tony Hayward and every one of the evironmental criminals who had a hand in making the decisions to bipass safety regulations and practices SHOULD be in jail awaiting trial.

Have a nice day.

You should try being honest - Hayward and Obama are tied to this issue. If you criticize one, you should criticize the other. Have a nice day continuing your state of denial.

I think Obama criticized Hayward from the 14th hole.

BP CEO does something, so let's rant about Obama. This is :lamo

In other news, the pot was seen on the gulf ..... uh, golf course.

Nonsense. President Barack Obama had no hand in British Petroleum's decisions to bipass safety regulations and cut corners of industry safety standards, despite warnings from their own "experts" and those of their chosen subcontractors, in favor of profits. ALL responsibility for those decisions, actions, and the results fall squarely on the management of British Petroleum . No amount of repeated hogwash changes that reality.

Well no problem then, it's okay if he plays golf instead of tending to the disaster. Hey, it's Bush's fault anyway right?

Can we please get the name right...British Petroleum is not this company's name.

I think BP stands for British Petroleum.

This does point out that a team effort is most important; that a single overpaid dictator is not good, the same applies to a CEO or COO or BOAB.....
I think BP is still run as an antique company, one from the previous century.
Lets get with it, people, its 2010, not 1020.
Also, no to this childish "blame game".

Really, then what does it stand for?

Nothing anymore, they officially renamed themselves just BP plc in 2000 I think. They do talk about themselves as "beyond petroluem" but that is not officially what anything stands for.

Obama in his own words, disagrees with you. It was his appointment to the MMS - No one elses. Obama himself said it's his responsbility.

I don't remember their gas stations have anything other then BP signs up. I think we know what it stands for, we're just playing semantics.

BBC News - BP CEO Tony Hayward criticised for yacht trip

Quote(BP CEO Tony Hayward has faced fresh criticism for taking time off to go boating with his son instead of dealing with the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

The White House said the move was one of a "long line of PR gaffes and mistakes" by Mr Hayward.

Environmental groups said the Isle of Wight outing was "insulting" to those affected by the environmental disaster.

BP defended Mr Hayward, saying it was his first day off since the spill began after a deadly rig blast on 20 April.

Mr Hayward spent the day with his son at the JP Morgan Asset Management Round The Island Race, where boats race around the Isle of Wight, off the coast of southern England.

He was later spotted by photographers on his $270,000 (£182,000) Farr 52 racing yacht, "Bob", at the event.
'PR gaffe'

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel said the boating incident has "just been part of a long line of PR gaffes and mistakes".

"To quote Tony Hayward, he's got his life back," added Mr Emanuel, referring to an earlier comment by Mr Hayward.)

Naturally no comment was made by the white House on Obama and Biden taking time off to go and practice their golf...................................................again.

Quote(Greenpeace campaigner Charlie Kronick described the boating trip as "insulting... rubbing salt into the wounds" of those who had been affected by the spill.)

Again no comment on the President taking time off.

Quote(Residents in coastal states affected by the spill also rebuked the oil executive.)

No mention of the President taking time off.

Quote(Obama hits golf course with Biden on another hot, humid weekend)

Quote(President Barack Obama hit the golf course Saturday with Vice President Joe Biden.

The White House pool report noted that Obama left at about 1 p.m. for the course at Andrews Air Force base, and his golfing parters included White House Trip Director Marvin Nicholson and David Katz, the energy efficiency campaign manager at the Department of Energy.

Obama left the course shortly before 6 p.m.

Nicholson and Katz, along with Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, joined Obama for four hours of golf last weekend. The Republican National Committee released an ad soon afterward taking aim at Obama's golfing during the ongoing BP oil spill crisis in the Gulf of Mexico.)

Evidently not an awful lot of interest in this ongoing disaster.

But to be fair all concerned should have some rest and relaxation.

This story is a non issue and BP critics are just looking for anything to criticize. Is him sitting in a office or on a boat yelling at the people trying to fix the leak with a megaphone going to speed things up, does Hayward in a yacht slow things down? No it doesn't. So this pissing and moaning over Hayward on a yacht trip is idiotic.

Aquaman for President of the US and BP!!!! Best idea I've heard all year.

too late :2razz:

I'll call those greedy criminal bastards anything

By all means, please go to the courthouse and attempt to file suit against "British Petroleum." Good luck.

It stands for nothing... there is no company in existance called "British Petroluem." It is not semantics, it is the way it is.
