    redress, you have this wrong
because he is a public figure - in this instance an elected public servant - asking the congressman a question is fair game, as long as you have a right to be wherever the question is asked
in this instance, the junior reporters were fully within their rights to ask the question of the NC congressional representative. etheridge is someone who has not faced opposition in years and one whose elected position will not be at risk because of his stupid response to the breithbart boys

don't see how the kids were being dicks. what is so wrong about asking the demo congressional rep if he supports the Obama agenda? nothing i can see which is illegitimate about the question

and yes, etherridge is the ONLY one whose behavior in this incident was inappropriate

i still feel dirty being on the 'wrong' side of this issue

    Fair question.

What did the boys ask the congressman?

Was it a serious question or just meant to get response? "the Obama agenda"

And when they were asked who they were with, why didn't they respond?

You'd think at journalism school they'd teach students to write or telephone the office.

Re: Sarah Palin. Besides moving into the house next to her, what else has the respected publish writer of non-fiction done? I think if he had know what a vindictive evil **** she is, he would have turned down the offer to rent the house.

They could have asked him if his children ****ed puppies in their eye-sockets and it wouldn't have justified laying hands on them.

I'm giving my honest reaction to the video. I think it's funny watching two O'Keef wannabe's get the snot scared out them on their first outing.

I hope the congressman doesn't catch too much flack over this.

He looks like he was fed up with the teabag mentality (aren't we all?) and two little boys playing at being reporters just pushed him too far.

I think there is some confusion. Let me clarify things a bit here as to my stance.

    1) AS things are now, the kids where within their legal rights. I do not advocate any change to this, nor will there be.

    2) Just because you have a right to do something, does not mean you should do it. There are a number of ways to contact congressmen for interviews, to get questions asked, and so on. Stopping busy people in the street is not the right way to do things.

Tucker, put it all in context.

the climate in DC, you're walking alone, two boys approach you and shove a camera in your face, asking teabag questions...

    Not justified... but mitigates.

Pardon my French, but what god damn difference does it make whether or not it was a serious question? This is a free country and he is a public official in a public place. They could have asked him if he wears a silk teddy underneath his suit and it still wouldn't justify his reaction.

And these young men were under no obligation to tell this goon who they're with or who they are. This is just a silly red herring you've thrown out in order to confuse the issue.

When are you going to admit the obvious: this man was totally out of line and committed a crime.

Just to clarify: You think it's okay for some old man to move in next to a private citizen and her family in order to write a book about them and profit off it, but two colleges kids asking a public official in a public place a question about the President's agenda is wrong and deserving of physical retaliation?

Do you not see how utterly absurd and out of touch your position is?
