And the United States falls behind yet another country when it comes to freedom and human rights. So much for the United States being the "land of the free"....we've forfeited that title to many other countries that have more freedoms than us. Truly sad.

Oh, boy. I sense this thread will now turn in a very different direction.

The challenges and defeats in CA (a very liberal state) should clue you in on how this is going. In this case their is no clear cut majority for gay marriage. On top of that 23 states have already amended the state constitutions to define marriage as one man and one woman. more states are moving quickly to do the same or are out right banning it.

The evidence does not support your opinion.
Support for same sex marriage is growing al the time.

And the case in California hasn't been decided yet at all. And the opposition to gay marriage side appears to be losing supporters there. That case in particular shows that it very well might be up to the courts, and could be decided sooner, rather than later. The experts are predicting that this one is likely to reach the SCOTUS, unless the opponents of gay marriage lose, and decide to give up their side of that fight before taking it that far.

The Associated Press: CA gay marriage trial to resume after long break

10 years is not an overly optomistic prediction on seeing gay marriage legally accepted throughout the US. Especially since it should only be a year or two when the military will most likely lift its ban on gays in the military. And there are lawsuits in the courts even now or coming soon, that will challenge the constitutionality of DOMA, including Gill v. Office of Personnel Management. If DOMA is declared unconstitutional by the SCOTUS, then it will almost certainly come with a ruling that includes something about the Full Faith and Credit Clause, which DOMA most definitely violates.

I spent some time in Iceland. I found it a beautifuly place but a pagan country, and it's people were very immoral. Somehow, this newest abomination doesn't surprise me. Since there is now an active volcano going on., I wouldn't be surprised if the whole island goes up in smoake, soon.

As I said before to someone else please point out where I have said otherwise?

And yet it was lost on a vote in a liberal state.

So again the evidence does not support your opinion.

#1 The Military and gay issue is completely unaffected as even I support them serving in the military.

#2 No ban on gays in the military exists.

You have 6 fairly conservative Supreme Court justices. 1 is retiring but that will make no difference as they will still have a majority. So if any of these cases go anyplace near the SCOTUS, it will probably not be good for the next few years.

Again I am just going by the evidence and not wishful thinking. In reality it does not look real good in the short term.

Yeah, this is obviously the most pressing issue in America today. 2 homos 7 miles away are just WAITING for their chance to get married and the thought of that distresses you

btw....Marriage means jack**** in America as it is, so who cares. Plenty of straight people have destroyed the whole idea of marriage. I mean you can get married in a drive through, and divorced just as fast.

Does that mean the US agrees with Islamic nations on gay marriage?
