My notion isn't that rocks arent that big of a deal. It's that hand thrwon rocks aren't that big of a deal. Granted, one instance in that video showed that hand thrown rocks can be a major issue in certain circumstances (like when the velocity of a vehicle is incorporated into the impact force generated by said rock). Aside from that one example (which was't the case in this instance) the other things were minor.

The agents got stitches from rocks is no worse than a lot of **** I've seen on construction sites. Far better than quite a few injuries of seen on construction sites, to be honest.

Jobs that have risks will have injuries. They should be wearing wear hard hats or helmets. I'd have gotten fined a ****load by OSHA for having guys on a job without hardhats.

Nothing in that video indicated any relevance to this situation. I am still not impressed.

Ahh yes, those Agents hit and injured by rocks, no big deal. Glad to know how you feel about our Agents health and safety. You and Tucker... I hope you both find yourselves facing rock wielding thugs one day, and when you do, I hope you remember they are no big deal.

One good rock to say the Eye, and you are incapacitated, or a hit to the head, and you are out. You think those thugs would stop there?

One person, at range throwing a rock or two, that's one thing. Multiple suspects pelting you... oh wait, it's JUST rocks.

I have faced rock weilding thugs, and the rocks weren't a big deal to dodge. I didn't have the luxury of a gun to use if they actually kept weilding those rocks after crossing a line in the sand, yet here I am. Not dead.

    ****ing amazing, isn't it?

A U.S. Border Patrol agent was injured after being struck in the head with a large rock while attempting to apprehend illegal immigrants near Douglas on Sunday.
At about 8:45 p.m., the agent observed five individuals cross illegally into the United States near the international border fence and Bonita Avenue, according to a news release issued by the Border Patrol on Monday.
“As the agent attempted to arrest this group, a shower of rocks was thrown over the fence from Mexico at the agent. The agent was struck in the head with one of these rocks and immediately took cover to avoid further injury. The illegal immigrants were able to abscond back to Mexico,” the release stated.

SAN DIEGO — Authorities detained 23 suspected illegal immigrants Wednesday after a Border Patrol agent was struck in the eye with a rock during a confrontation in rugged canyon country, officials said.

The 37-year-old agent, whose name was not disclosed, and a partner were pelted as they approached a group of about 30 immigrants east of the Otay Mesa entry shortly before 2 a.m., said Ron Henley, a Border Patrol supervisor.
"One of the rocks hit one of the agents in the eye," Henley said.

Border Patrol agent shoots rock-throwing man in Douglas; man dies

Long-standing policy of the Border Patrol authorizes agents to use deadly force if they feel it necessary, said Omar Candelaria, special operations supervisor with the U.S. Border Patrol, Tucson Sector.

"Agents are authorized to go up to deadly force if they feel threatened. It's pretty much a judgment," he said. "When the agent feels that he's in danger of death or serious bodily injury, we're authorized to use deadly force."

No I have for you two incidents of injured officers. And one incident of an Agent, being attacked by ONE man, shooting and killing him. For throwing rocks. I also have shown, that it is NOT against the law in any shape, fashion or form, for a BP Agent to shoot into Mexico.

So both of you, have nothing but personal opinion to stand on, and your opinions are based on fantastical failures of comprehension of the dangers our Agents face.

I didn't say it was no big deal. I said that I saw nothing of relevance to the case we are actually discussing. Try being honest next time you respond.

Glad to know how you feel about our Agents health and safety.
This is nothing but another appeal to emotion and an attempt to smear and vilify. ZOMGWTF!!! Won't someone think of the CHILDREN/TROOPS/POLAR BEARS????

You and Tucker... I hope you both find yourselves facing rock wielding thugs one day, and when you do, I hope you remember they are no big deal.
And I hope one day you and texmaster find yourselves in possession of a rational thought, and when you do, I hope you remember how to get back to where you found it.

One good rock to say the Eye, and you are incapacitated, or a hit to the head, and you are out. You think those thugs would stop there?
10-15 good steps backward and you are out of accurate throwing range of a rock of necessary weight and mass to kill. I also don't think a rational human being would stop at 15 steps.

One person, at range throwing a rock or two, that's one thing. Multiple suspects pelting you... oh wait, it's JUST rocks.
And I have said repeatedly, SOP should be to move out of range first, if possible. I also granted wide lattitude if the line in the sand were crossed. I'm not sure what's so hard to understand about that.

Ahh you are truly superman. The agents I listed above, clumsy idiots that need training from one so extraordinary as you. In the mean time, in the REAL WORLD, you throw rocks at armed law enforcement, you risk dying. No matter what side of the border you are on.

My expereinces are real world experiences. That's why I don't think having rocks thrown at you is all that big of a deal. I don't have to be superman to have faced these situations. Small children deal with rocks being thrown at them all teh time. Usually the worst that happens is some stitches.

And the agents you listed above received fairly minor injuries in the grand scheme of things. I've seen a ****load worse on construction sites.

As I said before, injuries come with the territory of having a risky job. They should be wearing heard hats or helmets if the rocks are so dangerous.

But even with all that being said, I'm not in favor of taking away their right to shoot people for throwing rocks at them from our side of the border.

But when the rocks are being thrown at them form the other side of the border and they are in a position to move out of the way of the rocks, then they should move the **** out of the way.
