Reuters Admits Cropping Photos of Ship Clash, Denies Political Motive

Meh differences of opinions, since not every photographer is trying to lie in his job. He was trying to take something that was obstructing the view point of the subject which is the guy on the ground out of the way of the picture. That is not telling a lie it is just getting a better picture of the guy lying on the ground.

Since the photog was trying to point out one thing and hide another.

So that means he lied? He is just trying to make an emotional peace of photography which is kind of a normal thing too do thought they did come clean, and admitted their mistakes.

They came clean...after they were busted. Whatelse were they to do, but come clean?...:rofl

The blog “Little Green Footballs” challenged Reuters' editing of the photo.

“That’s a very interesting way to crop the photo. Most people would consider that knife an important part of the context. There was a huge controversy over whether the activists were armed. Cropping out a knife, in a picture showing a soldier who’s apparently been stabbed, seems like a very odd editorial decision. Unless someone was trying to hide it,” the blog stated.

Little Green Footballs. The blog that took down Dan Rather.
That guy has really taken investigative journalism to a new medium. Using, ironically, supposed journalists themselves as targets.

LOL Fox News calling out Reuters .. now that is irony on a cosmic level.

You're right, it's very ironic. Reuters proving that pretty much any news network can be dishonest and biased sometimes, and all certain people here can do is ramble on about Fox doing this without it even being related to the topic. Cosmic level irony indeed.

Now come on RH- You got a photo of the guy on the ground, with his face blurred. What details did the cropped picture add to the soldier? None. It took away details that were significant to the situation at hand.

Especially if you were promoting a lie.
Cut the crap. Photography 101; make sure your subject is centered in your shot.

It seems to me it would have been MORE political to leave the picture un-cropped because you are then suggesting via the photo that the man with the knife in the picture stabbed the soldier, of which there is no proof that isnt circumstantial.

Again, did anyone look at the picture and think the soldier just fell down?

What people think consciously when they see an image is less important than their subconscious reaction.

Well, at least try to provide some evidence anyone thought anything other than the people on the boat hurt this soldier. Seriously, what other conclusion could there be? Conscioulsy or subconsciously?

it makes the consequence aloof from the event, you see the edited picture, you think "that soldier got injured", however the unedited version you think "that person with the knife injured a soldier", people know the soldier was injured by someone, but it's a detached thought, the picture of the bloke with a knife personalises the event.

Thanks for an excellent example of Apologists 101.

Second, I carry a knife everywhere I go. Shanking people is not first on my list of reasons to do so. Knives have PLENTY of utility uses outside of sticking them in people.

How does the California LEO's react to you carrying a combat knife unsheathed in your left hand as you saunter down the street? :ssst:

Yeah, he fell down alright after he was knocked down. You guys really amaze me with all the excuses for terrorism.

You've been whooshed.

The point of that comment is that no on thought that. It's pretty obvious that the guy had takena beating.

No, that might be true if there was no context, but as it was linked with them storming the ship, there is no such way to possibily read it as you suggest. The only conclusion is that he got hurt by those on the ship. There is no such detachment.

BTW, even with the knife in that person's hand, we don't know he hurt that particular soldier. What we do know both ways as that he got hurt during the raid, and not likely by his own people or self inflicted. So, the only option is the people on the ship.

What's even more asinine is the support for Muslim extremists that I read on this board.

There is no such support, which is what makes your comment asinine.

Exactly. No one thinks he fell down. Everyone who saw the picture from the beginning thought he was knocked down. Thanks for supporting me. ;)

He was knocked down by terrorists riding the boat. It's on the video.

Exacrly. Thank you for continuing to support what I'm saying. No one believed otherwise (though terrorist may not be accurate).

Number one- there is a knife in a hand- no face shown. This isn't evidence against a particular individual. Number two- a stab-type wound in the lower abdomen isn't typical as the result of an accident. Accidental injuries that cause cuts tend to be on the periphery of the body, unless one falls on a sharp object and the trunk is pierced. I suppose the soldier may have "fallen" on the knife of whoever was holding it.;)
