She's 17. If she was 14 or even 15 I'd be more understanding.

I totally get where the father is coming from, but he really went too far. He had perfectly solid grounds to turn the guy into the police.
I doubt if he improved his relationship with his daughter much by his actions.
BTW, there's nothing sick about a 24 yr old having the hots for a 17 yr old. His methods of courtship, however, are idiotic.
When I was 17, I was a married mother of two.
In my state, you see, the minimum age of marriage is 14, with parental consent.

Obviously the father had a macho Dad moment, most likely alcohol induced. In his own, old-fashioned way he was trying to protect her honor.
