I think it's very odd that the article itself hasn't really been discussed by the people throwing around all the racist terminology.

The fact is that the mural contained no words at all yet the actions it prompted spoke volumes.

I would chat with her when I'm feeling particularly snarky, but I wouldn't ever call her on the phone.

Where did I say I was referring to the article. Stay on topic with our off-topic discussion. Thanks!

There I pointed it out to you, its in bold. Its the culture, not the race. I cannot be any more clear than this and if you cannot get it, I feel sorry for you.

Its not a double standard. I do believe in cultural superiority because I believe that many cultures encourage bad habits that inhibits people from fully developing themselves as human beings. The redneck culture is one such culture. The majority of the middle east contains several cultures that I feel the same way about As well as several cultures in the East and South America. I feel that way about Quebecois culture as well. They all share the same level of suck in my mind.

I am amazed that you cannot make the distinction between genetics and behavior.

Interesting, I had never heard that term before. However, the primary attribute to this term is racial and not cultural.
They're not black and historically, havn't been accepted within either the black, or white communities. So yes, they are a sub-culture.

I see nothing wrong with that statement. All culturals promote certain behaviors and beliefs. And if I believe those behaviors and beliefs are wrong (and I feel that racism is wrong, you seem to as well), than that culture has an element to it that I find harmful. However, this is a behavioral thing, not a race thing. Race is primarily genetic while culture is primarily behavioral. I don't care about the genetic parts one way or another as people are people, but I do have a major problem with certain behaviors (as we all do)

Culture is primarily behavior, as I stated. So unless these people have something in their genes that make them all behave a certain way, than they are not a subculture. Perhaps a subethnicity, but not a subculture.

However, I am starting to understand your thinking and I see where you are confused.

Let me lay it out for you in this manner (as I have, because perhaps it will be helpful)

    Race - genetic
    Culture - behavior and belief

You support racism. Just admit it.

    I would if I did.

I have already stated that I am biased against cultures and that is not something often uttered in polite company, so trust me, I am being honest here.

Mega & Adpst--Did either of you ever respond to the article itself and share your opinions of it?

Oh, I think the mural is ugly, but it should not be changed as I see nothing racially wrong with it.

I think the colors are way too bright though and there isn't enough realism in it for my taste. Its too cartoonish.

Basically, what you're saying, is that all blacks and hispanics are the same and there are no sub-cultures in either community.
