That was May 2007. I think a Euro court appeal removed the ban or it was later removed by the courts.

I'm now hearing that Google is partially banned there as well:

Breaking News : First YouTube now Google being banned in Turkey

That article is from two days ago.

    What the hell?

t is alleged that due to several countries around the world banning popular Internet sites such as Google owned YouTube, Google have changed the IP addresses of YouTube to ones used by Google to try and tackle the problem.

Over this procedure by Google, the Telecommunication and communication Ministry in Turkey has blocked certain IP address belonging to Google in an attempt to stop accessibility to YouTube.

So in other words while trying to stop accessibility to YouTube, Google is having a knock on effect.

This latest Internet censorship has been met with outrage in Turkey.
    Youtube isn't blocked here???

    *Picture of IP trace removed*

Maybe a video insulting Ataturk is, but not the entire website. Hell thats a good sign. At least SOMEBODY remembers Kemalism!

If you're saying you're posting from Turkey and that it is not restricted there I believe you.
Although it could be that it is only blocked on specific internet firms.

Here's another article, from yesterday, from softpedia:
Attempting to Ban YouTube, Turkey Restricts Several Google Services - Turkey bans Google by mistake, YouTube is the real threat - Softpedia

Edit: By the way Kaya, edit your post, it reveals personal information.

I posted a screen shot of my IP trace just to make sure you see im here.
None of this makes sense to me. I dont know anybody around here experiencing the same problem. And im suprised i haven't heard about this because i keep one ear to the ground regarding Turkish news.

If this law was actually passed, all ISP's would be bound to uphold it.

If this is true, by any means, another example of an Erdogan screw up which will - by an luck - cost him his leadership.

Communism gave the independence movement its terrorist stripe, because Communist doctrine justifies the use of terrorism and attacks on civilians who can be deemed enemies of the revolution.

Yet this revolution does not include turning Turkey into a communist state, but carving out a Kurdish state in Turkey from what they believe is rightfully there's. There is no "Turk" in this equation. It is a Kurdish struggle. That area of Turkey lacks the substantial funds the rest of Turkey enjoys, even though the gap of the distribution of wealth is closing. Its no wonder, by adding the "communist element", a command economy gives the PKK extra support.
