Re: Ireland: Rachel Corrie won't dock at Ashdod

The point they are making by avoiding Ashdod is that they had already had the cargo inspected three times... why should they have to have the cargo inspected again in Ashdod? They are simply trying to get aid to Gaza and feel Israel has not been doing enough to ensure Gaza citizens get the supplies they need.

I hope these ships keep coming (peacefully of course). If nothing else is achieved by them, at least Gaza will still get the supplies these ships are bringing.

So Israel can inspect it for weapons. They can also have it inspected in Egypt if they prefer. Non-invasive means are used such as x-ray scans and explosive-sniffing dogs. Either Israel or Egypt will cover the cost of trucking the cargo containers to Hamas. If all is well with the cargo, one more inspection won't ruin anything and the cargo will still be delivered.

The cargo from the Turkish ships has already reached Gaza and it sits there at the crossing terminal. Hamas has refused to accept delivery.

    They don't get the supplies.
Israel is still trying to enter the humanitarian aid from the previous ships, Hamas is still denying entrance.

Israel vows to stop aid ship as it approaches Gaza | World news | guardian.co.uk

The former U.N. humanitarian coordinator in Iraq, Denis Halliday, said from the ship that trade unions and government officials had inspected its cargo. "So we are 100 percent confident that there is nothing that is offensive or dangerous," he told Israel's Channel 2 TV.
If independent government inspectors OKed the cargo, that is good enough for me.

Again I say, I hope these ships keep coming. Perhaps Israel will wise up and realize these activists really are just bringing humanitarian aid to Gaza.

And this claim that cement can/will be used for militant purposes is bull ****. People need shelter... especially since Israel destroyed many buildings in Gaza.

Yeah but you are ignoring the fact that they are trying to ram a blockade..

Its like running into a wall when the guy who owns the wall is offering you a free way round the wall..

They dont care about the people in Gaza they care for the bad image of Israel first...

I think that when they are captured and towed into Ashdod, that their supply should NOT be allowed into Gaza, just so people would understand that they are being idiots...

Lat's say, that the europeans have much to learn about inspection of weapons and illegal materials from Israel (you can check the weapons that were on board the Mavi Marmara that the 'activists' used agains the IDF).
Not for nothing nations sending their special forces against terrorist to Israel for practicing and learning.

Cement is well used by Hamas to build shelters for them and not for the population, including the illegal tunnels which Hamas is smuggling weapons through them.

No its possbile, I try and care for them as much as I can, when they are bashed on i will debate to protect them from undeserving hate/bs
But what I mean is that they are running into a blockade, its less a matter of inspecting the cargo as it is giving them a way around the blockade so that the supply would get to Gaza..In my mind if I got that option it would be my first instict to accept it, assuming there is a blockade like there is now

I did not mean that statement litterly m8
