Cross burning traditionally was done mostly on someone else property, so yes, I would be against it.

However, if they decide to burn a cross on their own lawn, then that's their right to do so IMO and there shouldn't be any laws against it unless they are being reckless about it..

Nowadays though, I think there are many subset laws that prevent burning flags or crosses on lawns due to strict fire codes (at least in most urban areas) that can be enforced.

I wonder what HOAs say about cross and flag burning.

Because we all know that HOAs are Nazi groups that control our lives.
"I condemn the ideology of White Supremacy and Nazism. They are thugs, criminals, and repugnant, and are against what I believe to be "The American Way" "
Thus my obligatory condemnation of White supremacy will now be in every post, lest I be accused of supporting it because I didn't mention it specifically every time I post.

Re: Flag Vandalism Mars Memorial Day in Several States

The fervent devotion to an assortment of fabrics and dyes intended to create a certain design is unnerving; it's the sort of brainwashed nationalism I'd expect to see in an authoritarian country.

An attack on "the nation"? The "country"? What is that, exactly? As far as I can tell, no one here controls federal-level executive branch policy. Even less than that, does someone here work in the top levels of the DoD? Is anyone here an administrator at an intelligence agency? If not, you have no influence on the foreign policy actions that "the country" (i.e. administrators in a specific sector of the government), adopts.

I don't choose to insult common people by implying that they're responsible for what some CIA administrators have been responsible for and are responsible for in destruction of democratic regimes so as to support authoritarian ones. No one here commands that drone strikes be executed, and I don't believe anyone I regularly interact with does either. Casting one irrelevant vote in an election that would have been decided without you anyway to install a head of state whose administration conducts numerous covert actions without public awareness doesn't equal control over such actions.

But the people affected by these actions believe you when you make claims of possession of them, admissions of responsibility. That's why they're willing to attack civilian targets; they have the same ideas about nationalism, apparently. Their most prominent attacks were against the highest symbols of economic and military power in the country. Instead of interpreting that as a sign of violent political conflict, the powers that be depicted it as purely religious, discrediting the legitimacy of the objections to governmental foreign policy, if not the specific actions. The regional insurgencies that sprang up against U.S. military personnel must also be purely religious, decided those powers, instead of motivated by the same sense of defensive struggle that plenty of people in this country would be involved in if there was a foreign invasion.

That's what they can do to your mind with vulgar nationalism. The Wizard of Oz projects a mighty image, but is a little man hiding behind the curtain. Pull it back!
