Author writing about Palin moves next door to her

ADK's criticism of Palin may be harsh but it's also largely accurate. Palin is bringing down the political discourse in this country. It's easy to dismiss a liberal's criticism by saying "Oh you just hate/fear her because she's a woman/is influential/whatever." It's also wrong. Personally, I wouldn't say I "hate" Sarah Palin, she seems like she'd be a nice lady if she were my next door neighbor. What I hate is her actions. Her blindly partisan, factless, lowest-common-denominator speeches delivered in a phony "Oh I'm just a small town person like you" manner. I hate how she fumbles even simple questions and then blames the LIBERAL MEDIA for being unfair with her. I hate how she uses her disabled child as a prop and then screams bloody murder (on facebook) when people call her out on it. I hate how she demanded Rahm Emanuel's resignation for using the word retard in a close-door meeting and the very next day gave Rush Limbaugh a pass for using the same word on the radio. I hate how she does a "bus tour" to promote her book, giving people the idea that she's traveling the country on this bus while actually using a private jet. I hate how she needed to go to four different schools over five years to finish a bachelor's degree in communications, and resigned from her job as a governor to go make millions of dollars selling books and giving speeches, while having the audacity to proclaim herself "not a quitter." I hate how she campaigned on financial responsibility, being proud of her "saying thanks, but no thanks, to the bridge to nowhere" when she actually supported that project until national attention became focused on it. Most of all, I hate the anti-intellectual fervor she stirs up in people, this idea that smart or well-educated people are somehow less qualified for major office, this idea that the president of the freaking United States should be someone "I'd sit down and have a beer with."

I'm glad her political career is over. I don't have to worry that she would end up directly in charge of anything important. Now, she's just a prettier, simpler version of Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity. Not someone I need to be very concerned about, but it's still fun to poke holes in her statements when she says things that are false or hypocritical.

HEAR! HEAR! Very well said.

i am actually not a fan of Palin, though if thats what you think of Palin, why would you lower yourself to her level? The way you describe her, no facts, mean spirited describes you to a "T". Anyway I think your vulgar mouth foaming for a woman indicates just what kind of man you really are.

You, my dear insecure friend, are the person on this forum who habitually attacks posters for what seems like no particular reason and then whines when someone returns the treatment to you. My judgements of Palin, and you, are based on her, and your, own actions and words. I know, to a person like you, that is still being partisan. Oh well.

Actually one could argue partisan hacks like ADK are the ones bringing down the discourse, him. the likes of late night talk show hosts and other mouth foamers.

It's easy to dismiss a liberal's criticism by saying "Oh you just hate/fear her because she's a woman/is influential/whatever." It's also wrong.

I lost interest in her when she decided to no longer be governer. Though I wont be vulgar about it.

But you loved Obama's plattitudes of hope and change? :lamo

I hate how she fumbles even simple questions and then blames the LIBERAL MEDIA for being unfair with her.

Like?

I hate how she uses her disabled child as a prop and then screams bloody murder (on facebook) when people call her out on it. I hate when left wingers take things out of context or spin scenarios in order to claim some high road over limbaugh.

I hate how she does a "bus tour" to promote her book, giving people the idea that she's traveling the country on this bus while actually using a private jet.

So you must really hate Al Gore. :ssst:

I hate how she needed to go to four different schools over five years to finish a bachelor's degree in communications,

Why would you hate this? Seems odd to me my friend.

and resigned from her job as a governor to go make millions of dollars selling books and giving speeches, while having the audacity to proclaim herself "not a quitter."

This is why I wouldn't ever vote for her. but you come off as jealous.

I'm not going to get into yet another rehash of Palin again, its been beaten to death. but this desire for some on the left to have a bogeyman is kinda creepy.

yet, you seem just like others VERY concerned with her.

Well at least you put your mouth foaming in bold so we all know when another wave of ADK is about to wash up on our gulf coast. :ssst:

I know. In your world, people who speak the truth, when it's exposing the truth of your heroine Barbie, are hacks like your other heroes Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh and Billo. Gotcha!

Why are you so full of hate?

And in response to you hating that she comes off as a small town girl just like you........

Would you rather we have some elitist snobs running around lecturing all of us?

I dont get why people are so opposed to those who are capable of appealing to the simple average American.

Okay - she quit four schools before finishing.

She quit as governor.

Apparently, she can't even finish a 5K charity run, either. Palin participates in Turkey Trot (w/ photo galleries) - Mid-Columbia News | Tri-City Herald : Mid-Columbia news

I don't hate her, par se. I simply can't see why people think she's qualified to listen to.

And what is she good at, exactly?

Is it "elitist" to be an expert at something?

Is America exceptional? If it is, why aren't those who actually know something about something allowed to be experts? Is it that we're supposed to an exceptional nation, but run by the average?

Are nutritionists "elitist" when they say eat broccoli instead of french fries? Damn them for telling us what to do! Are you going to ask your neighbor to look at that suspicious spot on your foot that you're worried could be melanoma? Or is the person who dropped out of high school next door just as good?

Did you even catch on to the irony of Rand Paul giving his victory speech gripes about "elitists" while speaking from a Country Club?

Did it bother you that Palin endorsed Carly Fiorina - a woman whose company lost 60% of its value, destroyed 18,000 American jobs and floated away on a $45 million golden parachute? Do you not see "elitism" in someone who gets paid 23X what the average American makes in a lifetime for doing a sh!tty job and destroying American jobs?

I know. In your world, people who speak the truth, when it's exposing the truth of your heroine Barbie, are hacks like your other heroes Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh and Billo. Gotcha!

Ah yet another lie. How many times have I posted that i am not a fan of Palin, Beck, or o'reilly? Hannity annoys me, and I find rush entertaining in a hyperbolic way. But don't let that stop you from once again lying about me in order to make yourself look like the left's TD.

It's really sad how blind you are to your party.

I know. In your world, people who speak the truth, when it's exposing the truth of your heroine Barbie, are hacks like your other heroes Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh and Billo. Gotcha!

It's hard to understand you with all that foam coming from your mouth.

We already do since the Obama crowd came to Washington... and based on poll numbers, the entire country's had enough of the snobs.

The majority of the country was quite happy to get rid of the true elitist, you know... the one who claimed God spoke to him, that they voted his party out of the white house.

Yeah, guess that's why Obama's poll numbers have tanked... right ??

Would you like to compare Obama's and Bush's popularity polls at 18 months into their presidencies ??

Bush got a 30 point jump from a major terrorist attack. I'll be more interested in the end-of-term comparison. EVERY president's approval rating tanks. Bush Jr. finished second to last after Nixon. Heck, Clinton is the only one who's managed to leave with a higher approval rating than he started, and even that's more due to his crappy starting approval rating than anything else. Bush fell farther than anyone except Truman.

Hell no! Clinton left Bush with a huge surplus and a thriving economy. Although his #s were steadily dropping until 9/11 gave him a huge bump and then his #s fell steadily after that high.

Obama was left a pile of crap that he's had to try to dig us out of. And the effect's of Bush's, and the Repubs, drunken spending have continued to have a negative impact on our economy. People don't like it when tough decisions have to be made.

And yet, in the middle of Bush's mess he still was able to get Health Care Reform passed. He's gotten Wall Street Reform passed. Both are not perfect but, will get better all the time.

Obama even has to deal with Bush and Cheeney's oil deregulations and staffing MMS with so many oil friendly dolts as this oil disaster is the direct result of their interference.

All tallied, Obama will still come out of this as a great president. Bush will always be in the discussions of the country's Worst Presidents.

We call that the "tech bubble".... Its a rather simple concept most get.

So you are saying Obama's spending is not "drunken" and that he's a failure at getting us out?

What tough decisions has obama made? Lifting the jones act? Allowing gays in the military, closing gitmo, bringing troops home in 18 months. Oh wait. :ssst:

That most of the country wants repealed.

MMS has little to do with the spill, according to the 1994 NPR that would be the coast guard and the EPA, you can thank me anytime for delivering you from ignorance.

Spoken like a true believer. Rome is burning, and your applauding the emporer's new clothes while that emporer fiddles.

Again - Rand Paul bitched about "elitists" while speaking at a Country Club.

Palin endorsed a woman who lost 60% of her company's values, killed 18,000 jobs, and got paid 23X what the average American will make in her lifetime JUST for being fired.

Do you know what "elitist" means? And please tell me you live in a gated community. I would LOVE that irony.

Your ignorance is funnier than the irony. "Elitist" refers to a state of mind, not social status.

Look, when you need a plane fixed, you ask a mechanic. When you need a plane flown, you ask a pilot. When you need a plane designed, you ask an engineer. It's not elitist to do so. Nor is it elitist to accept the opinion of the pilot over the opinion of the passenger when it comes to the flight.

Edit: Because for ****'s sake, the next person I hear call something a "runway" that isn't a runway is gonna get smacked! :)

Wait, what were we talking about again?

While factually correct, i fail to so how your post is relevant to mine. All i'm saying is just because someone has money dosnt make them "elitist"

Ahh, you mean like asking a movie producer to help out with a oil spill??

It seems BP has no such objections.
BP has given the green light for funding of a device that can separate oil from water.

Development of the machine, which uses a centrifuge to separate the fluids, has been backed by actor Kevin Costner to the tune of $25 million.

John Houghtaling, Costner's chief partner in the project, told WWL First News that the oil company has ordered 32 of the devices for use in the Gulf of Mexico.

"In a matter of weeks, we can be manufacturing ten of these a week," Houghtaling said. "So we're hoping by the first of August to have all 32 of these things in the Gulf."
Meanwhile Costner's company is moving toward leasing 16 more oil sucking and separating machines to Plaquemines Parish officials directly. They say if BP won't pay for that, they may sell the oil local officials pull from the water and fund the machines that way.
