Havana, Cuba (CNN) -- "I was caught because I was an illegal," explained a bicycle taxi driver as he gripped the rusted blue handle-bars of his vehicle in Havana's Central Park. "And because I'd been here several times before, I was deported back."

But the driver working his trade in the capital city did not arrive in Cuba from another country. Instead he is among the thousands who have come from rural provinces in search of work and a place to live -- but who have been deported back because of "Decree 217."

The 1997 law restricts rural migration and was designed to prevent overcrowding in Havana, a major problem in cities across Latin America.

But it has made this taxi driver an illegal resident in his own capital.

It is ok for the regime to control the movements of its citizens and decide wherever they are allowed to live? Restriction of people movement in their own country only happened in a totalitarian regime like the Castro brothers. This type of control only results in corruption and criminalization of the population. What the regime needs to do is fix the problem by responding to the needs of the people, not by restricting their human right of movement.

Restriction of people movement in their own country only happened in a totalitarian regime like the Castro brothers. This type of control only results in corruption and criminalization of the population. What the regime needs to do is fix the problem by responding to the needs of the people, not by restricting their human right of movement.

Ah, but here's the problem. Castro doesn't care if his people live or die.

I wonder if Los Angeles will be ready to boycott the Castros regime on behalf of those “legal citizens” as it promise to do with Arizona illegal immigrants. And Mexican President Calderon thinks Arizona is tough on illegal immigrants? Give me a break!

Thanks to the taxi driver the reporter found out that the Castro brothers dictatorship regulate the basic freedom of the people to travel and live anywhere they want in their own country. On his own he wouldn’t found out that the dictatorship that has taken away the freedom of the press, speech, assembly, to choose their leaders, etc., has restricted the freedom of travel too.

So, when that gay couple in Massachusetts gets a transfer to Tennessee and are essentially forced to divorce one another, are you going to get riled up about their freedom of movement?

What about all the people who are financially restricted in this nation - who might be able to right their economic ship if they could only get to where the jobs are but can't afford to?

Don't worry about the freedoms of Cubans until your own citizenry is truly free.

If I'm not mistaken, China does the same thing. They limit the number of people who are allowed to live in the big cities, and everyone else is relegated to poverty in the countryside.

Many of the people protesting the Arizona law controlling illegal immigration, were wearing Che T-shirts and carrying pro Castro sings. But at the same time they support the corrupt Castros military dictatorship that control the movement of its own citizens and consider them illegal for migrating from any place in Cuba to the city of Havana.

A friend who lived on the wrong side of the Iron Curtain told me that he was moved from the south to the north of his country, and was not allowed to go back to his home city.

What better way to control people than control their movement and build huge mega structures to concentrate the masses so it is easy for people to spy on and snitch on one another.

That last part doesn't require mega-structures, though for Commies it was ideal. In the EU envy and snitching is a way of life.

HAVANA (AP) - Cuban lawmakers have passed a resolution denouncing Arizona's new immigration law as "racist and xenophobic," recalling an old dispute in the process: the argument that the United States' purchase of Arizona from Mexico in the 19th century was tantamount to theft.

The tightly controlled, communist-run island has long been criticized for its human rights record, which includes the jailing of 200 political prisoners, the banning of a free press and the outlawing of opposition political parties.

Cuban citizens are required to carry identification with them wherever they go, and can be stopped by police and sent home if they are found in a part of the island where they don't belong.

According to the article Cuba lawmakers passed a resolution condemning Arizona's new immigration law. This comes from the Castro brothers military dictatorship regime that does not allow its own people to move from one city to another, and use racial profiling too. Young Cubans blacks are detained and harassed by the police for no apparent reason other than their race. They are asked for identifications and interrogated, and send back to the city they came from. Blacks and mulattos comprised 36% of the population, but 85 percent of Cuba's inmates are black or mulatto.

People in Democratic countries shouldn’t forget that there is no grater oppression, racism, homophobia, and greed than that of tyrannical governments. In those countries, like Castros Cuba, the people become slaves of the system.

Castro brothers military dictatorship has made discrimination into an art form. The mostly white political leadership has been in control in Cuba for the last 51 years and continue their racist policies. Most of the ministers and generals are old white men. Very few blacks have high political positions. Only 15 blacks and mulattos hold seats in the 150-member Central Committee of Castro's "Communist" Party.
