On the other hand, I have actually TALKED to REAL, LIVE North Koreans (albeit through a translator as I speak Chinese, but not Korean).

You have made some good points and seem quite knowledgeable about the subject.

    Here's a thought.

Why not launch some kind of propaganda program agiainst the despotic north korean government?

I live in the region, have lived in China, can read Chinese, have been to the DPRK border and talked with people from there. I can also read Japanese tolerably well. All of this helps be to have a pretty good understand of what is happening to my north (from the basis of Taiwan, where I currently reside).

I have no problem with that, though I think it falls far short of what is really needed. However, how would you propose we do that?

Maybe drop pamphlets from weather balloons or drones or smuggle them into the north. Maybe use something like the old "radio free europe".

Look what bush did with the propaganda of weapons of mass destruction. Shine a spotlight on the conditions there.

I will write my congressmen about it. You would really be surprised at the power of a letter to a congressman. I use a hard copy with snail mail because it seems more effective than an email.

You could start a website about it. I would spam the hell out of it for you.

In short, "shine a light" upon it.

    What would you do?

There is already U.S. radio available on shortwave in this part of the world, but such transmissions are blocked in countries like the DPRK and shortwave sets are not easy to come by. Anyone smuggling them in risks arrest. Using aircraft risks getting show down. "Weather balloons" while perhaps viable are not easy to control where they will go and generally speaking, wind patterns for much for much of the year would not cooperate from places the US would have access to release them from.

But he used free media outlets that don't exist in the DPRK.

This is the type of thing that would come from the executive branch of government and I don't believe the present chief executive would do things along this route.

You could start a website about it. I would spam the hell out of it for you.
And how many people in the DPRK would see it?

In short, "shine a light" upon it.

Most of the rest of the world already knows the situation in the DPRK and how the people there are deprived of their basic human rights. The problem is convincing their people of this knowing that it is exceptionally difficult to communicate with their people and their entire Juche ideology has the people highly brainwashed and continually bombarded with propoganda about how great their Dear Leader is and how the Koreans south of the DMZ are traitors.

We should hire Walt Disney to do our propaganda. It would also aid the economy.

I have not even seen a story about this on tv, yet. WTF?

you confuse ignorance with an opinion that does not agree with your rather narrow view of the human spirit. Others have thrown off oppression. You have yet to say anything that proves me factually wrong.
