Democrat Mark Critz, a former congressional aide, has defeated Republican businessman Tim Burns in the special election for Pennsylvania's 12th district, the Associated Press reports.

The special election has been portrayed as something of a bellwether race for this year's midterm elections, giving renewed hope for Democrats.

Actually, I thought the Republican had a great chance to take the seat, given that Critz would not wield anywhere near the power that Murtha did, being the head of the Armed Services Committee, which he used to bring a crapload of pork to Pennsylvania.

However, I wouldn't read the tea leaves and say that this is good for Democrats. This was just another race, and there will be many more of them come November. My take on it is that neither candidate was part of the establishment, which really leveled the playing field in a year in which establishment candidates are despised.

Article is here.

Critz ad: 'I opposed the health care bill' - Josh Kraushaar - POLITICO.com

NOT a win for obama

critz specifically ran against the addled administration, proudly opposing health care and cap and trade

he's pro life and pro gun

critz went out of his way, in fact, to credit admiral mullen for moving dadt (which isn't moving, by the way) and NOT the put out president

he purposely did NOT invite the president in

it is what it is

congrats, i guess

So much for that big Republican movement. :doh

So one win, in a hugely demo part of PA, with a guy that ran as far away from Murtha policies as he could, and that's it for reps and conservatives eh?

Man you libs are laughable with this crap....

No....its been several races. The reality is....Republicans will pick up seats as every party generally does in a midterm election. But the great white hope that the right-wing has that Republicans are going to obtain a windfall is laughable.

Well, I guess we'll have to see like in all election cycles. But I am not going to sit here and pound my chest based on one win, or one loss, it makes one look foolish.

Oh, and I just love your code language......"Great white hope"? "right wing"? Right wing of what exactly?

Gheeze!

Kinda like all the right-wingers did in the Brown election, right?

so long as dem candidates run loudly on a promise to oppose the president's prize piece of "accomplishment" they have a chance to survive (in a district 2 to 1 dem and owned by dems for half a century)

one would have to be as tone deaf as the large lobed loser in the white house not to hear the message out of PA12

what's that mean for the president's legislative agenda?

between now and novemeber?

and beyond?

So then I won't bother looking at your past posts to see if you pounded your chest over the otherwise meaningless GOP state house wins in NJ and VA.

So much for that big Republican movement. :doh

So a guy wins who has nothing in common with your beliefs or Obama's, and you're happy about it?

This guy will vote to defund Obama's healthcare. He will vote against pretty much all of Obama's initiatives. Congrats.

Why are you being a racist?

Nope, I probably did. What? Is that supposed to make you superior or something? Look man, don't be a putz. There is alot of elections to go, and as the Prof so obviously pointed out before your inane post here, the message is clear no matter if your demobot won in PA12 or not. The fact that he lied to win is a point in itself.

This says it all. The left can spin this election and will but the reality is what is going to happen in November.

He's being a putz because he is pointing out your hypocrisy? That's a good one.

Spin it however you want....the reality is, in another head to head battle, the Republican lost.

With the economy turning around and the outlook of the country looking up, the Republicans dreams of a November landslide are fading away.

This dood is a pro-life, pro-veteran, pro-2nd amendment, pro-deficit reduction.... The only thing missing is a tea party mention. :lamo

I'd have voted for him. For you DD to claim victory here is rather funny.

No, he is being a putz because he thinks that by being snarky, and bringing that in will silence my further posting. It is all too typical today of libs that think in these juvenile standards involving debate.

Sorry Rev...you can spin it however you like...the reality is...in another head to head battle, the Republican candidate lost.

Hey, Dude, how is that hope and change working out for you? 15 million unemployed Americans, 1.2 million more discouraged workers, 3 trillion dollars added to the debt in less than 2 years, Taxpayer ownership of GM/Chrysler and your tag line is restoring values? LOL, now that is funny unless your values come directly from the Soviet Union or other Marxist countries. That utopian European model is on fire but that is what you want here. Keep spinning and go down in flames.

What is it about liberal arrogance that believes govt. is the answer if only you throw enough taxpayer money at the problem?

This says it all

Another? Uh, most of them are going our way, including, of all places, Massachusetts and New Jersey. LOL

Your "Democrat" will be voting conservative on pretty much everything, so enjoy all that.
