Specter rejected by Pa. Dems in bid for 6th term

As a Pennsylvania voter, that was my main concern. I didn't decide who to vote for until about a week ago. I didn't want to vote for Sestak only to have Toomey win in November. After I saw the poll numbers and knew Sestak had a chance, I happily voted for him.

Sestak has a better chance of defeating Toomey, definitely. This is not a good year to be an incumbent, and especially not one who has angered both Republicans and Democrats.

Sounds like Toomey vs Sestak will be more of a Republican primary. LOL

Too early. Everyone knows Corbett, he's been AG here for years. Much can happen between now and election day.

Six months ago, Specter was hugely ahead of Sestak, too.

We can even take it further. Look at the trend in the poll The Prof so kindly provided. In the last month, democrats gained 5 % on republicans. Next month, if the trend continues, the polling should be dead even, and by election time, solidly democrat. The Prof is the bearer of very good news for liberals. I think we should all thank him kindly.

It is true that Democrats have grown in popularity, but we see Democrats running against Obama's agenda and according to conservative principals. Democrat support is growing, but Obama job approval is dropping. RealClearPolitics - Election Other - President Obama Job Approval

It seems if the Democrats run against Obamacare and act as moderates/conservatives they could win.

and ten months from now you'll lead by fifty

LOL!

 Touche! that was actually pretty good....I was however just trying to illustrate that Mods although have a responsibility to monitor the boards for in-fractious behavior, they are also posters with opinions which should not be foregone just because they are doing a service as a mod.

I answered this post in another thread, but FWIW:

Obama didn't stump for Specter, he was forced to rely on video clips from last year when he jumped to the Democratic party.

Ok, Obama didn't stump for Spector, But he did endorse him.

he didn't just endorse him, he LOVED him

Obama is not the democratic party. Pretty much all of us disagree with him on something. When any presidents job approval is low, those of his party will run against certain things of his. Democrats are not running as republicans or conservatives, only highlighting where they disagree with Obama. If Obama's approval rating was high, they would highlight where they agree.

mr critz: NO on health care, NO on cap and trade, NO on gun control, NO on legalized abortion

mr oliverio: NO on health care, NO on public funding of abortion contained in obamacare (he says), NO on cap and trade

the PARTY OF NO is expanding

evidently

If Critz is truly a Democrat, than these are all lies. Even the Dems know you can't run on liberal ideas today.

Yes. I believe strongly in most of the democratic platform, and would love to see us have a large enough majority to control congress for years to come. I would have no problem with the democrats being 45 % higher approval than republicans.

critz and oliverio DON'T believe in the most particular planks comprising the platform

that's why they won

This is good for the Democrats. Sestak has a lot better chance of winning the general election rather than Specter.

that's probably why he won a dem primary

Based off of the average of economic income of all the states, southern states are the worst. Mississippi, Utah, Idaho, and South Carolina are the four states with the lowest average income and guess what... they all have Republican governors.
Best and Worst States

So you would make everyone prisoners in crappy cities like Detroit, Buffalo, boston, LA, NYC and so forth??
