Dude, Obama didn't actively campaign for Specter:

Rendell also dismissed the fact, widely noted in the state, that President Barack Obama did not come to Pennsylvania in the campaignís final days to campaign for Specter. Instead, Specter relied heavily on a television ad showing Obama praising Specter at a large rally.

This is the important stuff. We canít get lost in discrimination. We canít get lost in B.S. We canít get lost tearing each other down. I want to make a point here that no matter what you look like, where you come from, how you worship, who you love, how you identify, and yeah, how you run, that if you have good public policy ideas, if you are well qualified for office, bring those ideas to the table, because this is your America, too. This is our commonwealth of Virginia, too.

    2) And the most important point? Voters are booting out imcumbents and establishment picks of both parties. They have had enough.

What we are seeing in both parties is one hell of a good sign, and shows me that there is hope for the future.

    Whores begone!!

Great points danarhea! I think that has been lost in all the media sensation and speculation. They have chosen a narrative, anti-incumbent, but the truth is, it's the specific bent of the candidate. I've been very frustrated by media. Their analysis is just plain lazy.

President Obama steers clear of shaky Arlen Specter - Jonathan Martin and Glenn Thrush - POLITICO.com

Once thought to be an unalloyed asset for most any Democratic candidate, Obamaís personal involvement is no longer guaranteed ó or guaranteed to succeed.

In close to a dozen contests, Obamaís intervention hasnít paid dividends ó whether in picking winners in a party squabble like Pennsylvania, recruiting candidates for targeted seats, or on the stump in the final days of close contests in Massachusetts, Virginia and New Jersey.

Awesome doesn't even begin to describe this.

Seeing how Specter likes to switch parties I do not think this is the last we'll see of him.He will probably switch to another party and run again.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

No, he was a real Democrat before he switched to being a Republican, but back then the Democratic Party wasn't hiding out as the Communist Party, now.
