Specter rejected by Pa. Dems in bid for 6th term

Who will lose to Toomey because the American Electorate has seen what Leftwing Liberalism does and they don't like it!

We shall see. Sestek winning is not good news for Repubs, nor was Paul winning in KY.

My take on this is twofold.

1) You are seeing real Liberals and real Conservatives win the primaries, and not those who are going to cave into special interests, as Specter did, and also as Mich McConnell is doing (He supported Trey Grayson in KY).

2) And the most important point? Voters are booting out imcumbents and establishment picks of both parties. They have had enough.

What we are seeing in both parties is one hell of a good sign, and shows me that there is hope for the future.

Whores begone!!

Dude, Obama didn't actively campaign for Specter:

Rendell also dismissed the fact, widely noted in the state, that President Barack Obama did not come to Pennsylvania in the campaign’s final days to campaign for Specter. Instead, Specter relied heavily on a television ad showing Obama praising Specter at a large rally.

Great points danarhea! I think that has been lost in all the media sensation and speculation. They have chosen a narrative, anti-incumbent, but the truth is, it's the specific bent of the candidate. I've been very frustrated by media. Their analysis is just plain lazy.

"i love you and I LOVE ARLEN SPECTER," philly, april 30

rendell's right, tho, about those frightened final days

Once thought to be an unalloyed asset for most any Democratic candidate, Obama’s personal involvement is no longer guaranteed — or guaranteed to succeed.

In close to a dozen contests, Obama’s intervention hasn’t paid dividends — whether in picking winners in a party squabble like Pennsylvania, recruiting candidates for targeted seats, or on the stump in the final days of close contests in Massachusetts, Virginia and New Jersey.

PHILADELPHIA – U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter on Tuesday was defeated in a Democratic primary in his bid for a sixth term after taking the risky step of switching from the GOP.

Voters picked U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak as the party's nominee and rejected the 80-year-old Specter in his first Democratic campaign.

With 65 percent of precincts reporting, Sestak received 339,402 votes, nearly 53 percent. Specter received 304,179 votes, about 47 percent.

Awesome doesn't even begin to describe this.

Next stop: McCain

Seeing how Specter likes to switch parties I do not think this is the last we'll see of him.He will probably switch to another party and run again.

That's what you get for being a bitch.

Good news. Specter was always a Republican. I'm glad to see the Democrats boot him for a real Democrat.

There's no difference between electing a Republican and electing a Republican pretending to be a Democrat.
You are hilarious!!!! Specter a Republican??? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Back to Disney my leftwing enemy!

No, he was a real Democrat before he switched to being a Republican, but back then the Democratic Party wasn't hiding out as the Communist Party, now.

I'm glad that phoney bastard is gone.

I, too, am glad to see the purification going on in politics. Hedging your bets from both sides doesn't show you to be "moderate"; it shows that you don't believe in anything and that you just go with the way the wind is blowing.

There is no common ground between Obama and conservatism. Let's put both platforms up for a vote once and for all, without the McCains and Specters clogging up the process.

I stated when he switched parties that we did not want him. Now he will be gone. Sometimes life is good.

obama sure wanted him, obama LOVED him

And I thought Obama was wrong about that.

who cares

now we'll probably see president pie-in-the-face throw benedict arlen under his presidential bus

just like the good reverend, another former loved one ABANDONED and BETRAYED

I seem to recall you making the exact same prediction before the Democrats won in 2006 and 2008.

Meh, Specter has been a fairly reliable Democratic vote since he switched parties, so I wouldn't have been upset if he had won. I'm not going to shed any tears for his loss though. Sestak appears to be polling stronger against Toomey anyway.

As a Pennsylvania voter, that was my main concern. I didn't decide who to vote for until about a week ago. I didn't want to vote for Sestak only to have Toomey win in November. After I saw the poll numbers and knew Sestak had a chance, I happily voted for him.

Sestak has a better chance of defeating Toomey, definitely. This is not a good year to be an incumbent, and especially not one who has angered both Republicans and Democrats.
