    Obama's aunt granted asylum

    By Meghan Barr ASSOCIATED PRESS

CLEVELAND (AP) -- A U.S. immigration court has granted asylum to President Obama's African aunt, allowing her to stay in the country, her attorneys announced Monday.

The decision was mailed Friday and comes three months after Kenya native Zeituni Onyango, the half-sister of Mr. Obama's late father, testified at a closed hearing in Boston, where she arrived in a wheelchair and two doctors testified in support of her case.

The basis for her asylum request hadn't been made public. People who seek asylum must show that they face persecution in their homeland on the basis of religion, race, nationality, political opinion or membership in a social group.

Her attorney, Margaret Wong of Cleveland, said last year that Ms. Onyango first applied for asylum "due to violence in Kenya." The East African nation is fractured by cycles of electoral violence every five years.

    Oh, ok then.
He touched her over her bra and underpants, she says, and guided her hand to touch him over his underwear

I have to say, this all sounds very fishy... but not entirely unexpected.

Hell, I'm surprised she hasn't been given asylum AND a very nice diplomatic posting, houses, a driver in say a small but rich little country where nothing ever happens. All on qualifications of course...

“I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on what’s being proposed here, he’d agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute.” - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

Can anyone here imagine the hue and cry if this was done with one of Bush's relatives while he was in the White House? Where is the outrage from the left?

Oh give the "What If's" a rest Rocky Dennis

If the president is at all involved, I'll have some all the live long day, just for you.

Until we know what's up, I'm holding off. I still think it's fishy, but as during his campaign, I doubt he'd risk his hands on this. But I'm sure you'll find a way to prove me otherwise

Couldn't even imagine the creativity that would be applied. Of course this is a non-issue as it's Obama we're talking about.

It's fishy but anyone looking into it will simply be told it's off limits and it'll be locked away with the rest of Obama's history. Just sayin... The paper work went through amazingly fast and there were no questions....

No details have been released, how do you know that?

Call it a premonition -- part of which will never be release, part of which will never see the light of day.
