(CNN) -- Two Canadian fighter jets on Saturday escorted a Cathay Pacific Airways flight into Vancouver International Airport in response to a bomb threat on the plane, authorities said.

"A security issue raised on the ground in Vancouver meant extra security for the aircraft inbound to the airport and upon arrival," Gus Whitcomb, a spokesman for Cathay Pacific, said in a statement. "We are not aware of any issues arising on board the aircraft itself."

The security issue was a bomb threat that had been called in at 10:43 a.m. (1:43 p.m. ET), Cpl. Sherrdean Turley of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police told reporters outside the airport.

Kanuckistan still has fighters?

You mean the Voodoos and CF-104's are still in operation?
Or did they scramble the Snowbirds in their ancient trainers?

CF-188's. Very effective.

It irritates me no end that they use the wrong name for them. They even mention it is really called the CF-188 in the first line, but still use the CF-18 designation...

Did they buy 1 or 2?

;)

They're F/A-18's with new stickers.

If I dissed your military, you'd be going ape****. So :kissass

Well, what is there to diss about the US Military?
The best, best equipped, and trained fighting force on the planet.
With the state of the art American saving, enemy reducing toys.

With 2 C-5's we could transport almost all of Kanuckistan's military personnel and equipment. We could start in Esquimalt, hop to Cold Lake, Petawawa, and then to Goose Bay... that's about all that's left of the military... or? Ok, a couple other outposts... more for S&R than a military installation.

Kanuckistan, when it was known as Canada, had a great, brave fighting force. Now it's a bit bigger than a large Boy Scout troop, and about as well equipped. The US does yer protect'in and the heavy lifting darl'in.

That said, there are brave Canadians out there... too bad they are treated as they are, and too bad Kanuckistani's of today are a shadow of their former pioneering selves. It's a different country from the one Roderick Haig-Brown wrote about not too long ago.

The Sheeples of Kanuckistan, coming soon to the Discovery Channel.
