It's one thing to vent to a coworker in private about another coworker, a client, a customer, a manager...whatever. It's a whole different animal when you can't control your mouth enough to maintain professionalism and civility in your dealings with the objects of your discontent in the workplace.

If I heard one of my guys tell another person to "eat sh-- and die" in the course of conducting business, they would no longer be working by the time the last syllable came out of their mouth.

Stupid is as stupid does and that's all I have to say about that.
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't pay a bill with professionalism and civility. I have noticed that people who are cowards and talk behind people's back usually tend to be the weakest people with the most drama surrounding them. I personally love working with/for/above people that will tell me to my face what they think of me. Lets me know where we stand and it helps to get deals done much faster when we are forced to work together.

You can get your point across in a direct manner while maintaining professionalism. There is no excuse for dropping a professional demeanor while conducting business as a representative fo your organization.

    None.

Yeah - people are getting dumber and dumber with our advances in technology and deeper dependence on it.

I remember always being told 'don't use your real name on the net, ever!' 'Don't reveal too much personal info about yourself, ever!' - and lo and behold - people by the thousands do it every damn day - real names, personal facts and all sorts of crap that they were told not to do.

Then their house gets broken into while they're on vacation because of a Twitter and then they can't take action because their credit is tanked due to identity theft linked to a website they divulged personal info on - and they're further tanked when their future employer looks them up by name on facebook and finds that they're a drunk and a thief.

Are people really that sensitive? I mean yeah sure it wasn't the cleverest thing in the world, but if she's good at her job...

The principle, like many public servants, has an intense disdain for the public that she serves. She just happened to get caught expressing it.

I'm sure the teacher's union will defend her though, and she'll get a promotion and a raise.

Obviously you have never sold cars or advertising. Don't get me wrong because I do agree with you to a point, but sometimes being blunt about what you think can help.

    that's not always my experience
sometimes you have to fit in, which means adopting a less than professional demeanor
as a young man i did real property appraisals. found out that the approach to working for the conservative real estate agent in the city was much different than what was required to successfully work for the conservative farm owner
when i finally realized that i needed to take my pickup to the farm, while wearing jeans, instead of driving a BMW and wearing a tie, the cooperation, additional work and enjoyment of my job was substantially enhanced. being able to speak bubba made things even better
similarly, i disagree with goof noodle's expectation that all of his business relationships respond to him in the direct manner he wants:
... I personally love working with/for/above people that will tell me to my face what they think of me. Lets me know where we stand and it helps to get deals done much faster when we are forced to work together.
that approach will seldom work in the far east. the old school asian business man is never going to tell you "no" directly. instead he will say "yes" in a very nuanced way so that you will be expected to understand he has actually said "no" ... but in such a way which allows you to save face

and back on subject, nothing about that school principal's actions could be found professional - which is why she will soon be promoted up the ranks to join those of similar ilk
we are negotiating about dividing a pizza and in the meantime israel is eating it

reflects the tone of her leadership and the poverty of her intellectual thought
There - quote of the century right there. I love the wording of that "poverty of her intellectual thought" - so brainy
