9 indicted on charges of accessing Obama records

I am wondering whether or not these guys were birthers or such, attempting to dig up dirt. At any rate, they are all looking at up to a year in prison for what they did. I hope they learn a lesson here.

Meanwhile, I am kind of happy that Obama was on the receiving end of being spied on. He promised to end government spying on American citizens, but he didn't. Karma's a bitch, ain't it?

Article is here.

Well, when all of a persons public records are sealed away from some obscure reason, while there are all sorts of questions regarding Obama's past... they may not have been seeking to 'dig up dirt' as much as trying to determine 'what's he got that needs to be so well hidden'.

But, as far as spying goes.... it's only legal to spy on the people... watching the watchers should be a capital offence, Big brother demands it.

It's exactly like the lawsuit situation, in that you've once again failed to read beyond the headline, causing you to miss critical information that would highlight the flaws in your conspiracy theories.

Damn dude... I feel bad for you, seeing conspiracies everywhere even where none exists...

I bet you couldn't even point out coherently where the 'conspiracy' is in this?

What's Barry hiding?

Good question...

And why is accessing his records grounds for a year in jail?

Because as long as he's president he must be treated like a god. You wouldn't investigate your god now would you??

I find it hard to believe the County prosecutor would be as zealous if someone hacked into my college records.

That's a racist conspiracy theory.

Less debate, more posting of sensitive personal information. That's what you conservatives support, right?

Exactly. That person used a government computer without authorization. Souns like the same case to me.

One suspension and the other jail time.

Well, it depends: if the government worker had authorization, then it was unethical, but not illegal.

It appears that the DoE contractors exceeded their authorization restrictions to obtain the information and they were working for a Federal Department to obtain private records available only to those with legitimate access rights.

This action (apparently) is against the law.

I don't see the two as being identical. Similar, but not identical.

And, just so you know...I would have fired the employee in Ohio - not just suspended.

Because he has nothing to hide..... but he's hiding it anyway?

No because it is no one business what is in his college records but his own. No one has a right to see his grades or financial records expect for himself. Hell I get in trouble if my own parents get on my school account to pay my bill.

Because he has nothing to hide..... but he's hiding it anyway?

Hey, let's blame the victim in this case. That sounds like a good idea.

Did I blame the victim?.... or just state a fact?

Fact is that if you go way out of your way to hide something, especially if you are a prominent public figure, you are going to make people curious as to what you are trying to hide..... it's called human nature, but being a vast consumer of the O-aid, you'll never see that.

Tough ****.

I’m not saying the people that looked at his records are in the right, just that they were incompetent….. Just wait until real hackers get involved. Barry won’t have an electronic record that isn’t plastered all over the web….. Again, human nature.

1) He is not trying to hide anything. It's none of any ones business, any expectations for him to release the records is unreasonable.

2) He is the victim, and you are blaming him. There is no excuse for accessing the records.

Any lawyer would tell their client that it would be stupid to release any information that was unnecessary. People will only use it to attack you. You won't gain any real advantages from doing so.
