Highland Park High School Tournament over Arizona immigration law

Now the pro-illegals liars are now trying to keep kids from a Tournament because they do not like the fact Arizona does not tolerate illegal immigration.

Highland Park High School Cancels Trip To Arizona Tournament Over Immigration Law (POLL)
Suburban Highland Park High School is coming off its best season for girls basketball in 26 years. But a planned trip to Arizona for a tournament next season has been canceled by the school due to that state's controversial new immigration law.

School officials painted the decision as a matter of safety. The Chicago Tribune spoke with District 113 Assistant Superintendent Suzan Hebson about the decision:

"We would want to ensure that all of our students had the opportunity to be included and be safe and be able to enjoy the experience," Hebson said of the tournament, which will be played in December. "We wouldn't necessarily be able to guarantee that."

Asked if there are undocumented players on the team, or if anyone associated with the team is in the country illegally, Hebson said she did not know.

The school draws students from Highland Park as well as what WLS describes as "the heavily Hispanic suburb of Highwood." Fifteen percent of the school's population is Hispanic.

But parents complain that the school is unwisely making political hay of a sporting event that is entirely unrelated.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

All over a law that was already in place to begin with. Wow.

Every Republican in the country should run on this issue. LOL

I think the Left's gambit on this one is gonna blow up in their face.
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

    Mixing politics with education.

You people want your kids in these places.
I was discovering that life just simply isn't fair and bask in the unsung glory of knowing that each obstacle overcome along the way only adds to the satisfaction in the end. Nothing great, after all, was ever accomplished by anyone sulking in his or her misery.

I think public schools should be religious and politically neutral as possible.

    I'm pro-illegal. And I'm from Illinois.

Love the decision. Good on 'em.

Here's the thing, though. Because I'm an actual small government conservative I support Arizona's right to pass whatever laws/rules they deem fit. I also support areas on Illinois making the choice to boycott (more directly as well).

How many of the "conservatives" here are actually willing to take the same stance about a school in a state that has jack **** to do with them?

How can you be pro illegal and claim to be for small government?

And you do realize that the decision wasn't left to a vote, it was made by one person right?
Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

See Thomas Jefferson's words form the Kentucky Resolutions of 1798.

That alien friends are under the jurisdiction and protection of the laws of the State wherein they are: that no power over them has been delegated to the United States, nor prohibited to the individual States, distinct from their power over citizens. And it being true as a general principle, and one of the amendments to the Constitution having also declared, that “the powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people," the act of the Congress of the United States, passed on the — day of July, 1798, intituled “An Act concerning aliens,” which assumes powers over alien friends, not delegated by the Constitution, is not law, but is altogether void, and of no force.
The only thing related to immigrants that the Federal government was granted authority over was a national standard for naturalization (i.e. citizenship)

Only the states have the authority to dictate who may or may not be a resident of that state when it comes down to non-citizens (all citizens have an equal right to residency from the equal protections clause)

It was judicial activism in 1870's (during the Chinese immigration wave) that usurped said authority from the states in the fist place.
