In bid to save party, Brown says he will quit

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has announced that he would resign "within months" if a Labour-Liberal Democrat coalition government could be formed.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown says he wants his Labour Party to govern in coalition with the Liberal Democrats — and he'll step down within months if that happens.

Brown offered to quit in a bid to tempt the third-place Liberal Democrats to form an alliance with second-place Labour, not the Conservatives, who won the most seats in Thursday's election but not a majority.

It would be a true shame is the UK was cursed under more labor rule. The conservatives won a majority, give them a chance to have a prime minister. I hope the LD side with the conservatives so the UK can experience real change and reform.

    They didnt win a majority

They have the most seats but did not win a majority

As for the LD and the Conservatives, it would be strange for the two to work together as the LD are more left then Labour, while the Conservatives are of course more right then Labour, how both would be able to recocile(sp) their particular ideologies in order to work together is beyond me

I wan meaning because they have the most seats they have the majority in parliament. The have a plurality and not an absolute majority?

Honestly I just hope the UK is able to give their people a conservative PM. It would seem wrong to have a plurality not have a PM, especially when one party lost many seats and elects another PM of the same party that the UK has had for years.

Socialism has been exposed in Europe. Once great countries like England have been reduced to mere shadows of their former selves. The less stable countries have imploded altogether, such as Greece, with Portugal, Spain, and others heading down the same path.

I hope American voters are paying very close attention, and don't fall for the empty promises socialism initially teases with.

The problem with socialism, as it's been said, is that you eventually run out of other people's money to spend.

Wow what planet do you live on?

You do know it was right wing policies that got the world into the problems they are in now right? Unregulated markets gone amok with greed... during a right wing US administration.

And that the US is far far far worse off than most of Europe right? Ignoring your own problems by making fun of others and taking non factual jabs at them does not make those problems go away.

As for Brown.. he is quite the political player.

By doing this, getting a Lib Dem- Labour government is closer than getting a Lib-Dem - Conservative government.

Like it or not, the Lib-Dems and Conservatives have very little in common, and the Conservatives do not want to change the electoral system as it would hurt them.

Which is why 99% of people don't respond to you. When produced with facts your reality trumps all. According to you - all things bad in the world are the result of right wing policies... no matter what the facts say.

Back to the ignore list with you!
“I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on what’s being proposed here, he’d agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute.” - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

Re: In bid to save party, Brown says he will quit

I do have to agree that a LibDem-Labor pact makes more sense than a LibDem-Conservative pact.
But even were Mr. Clegg to align with Bossy boots Brown the combined would still not have a majority.
So at a guess I would suppose that English hater Salmond would be brought into the mix along with the Welsh party.

Then during the next election we could reasonably expect to see the decimation of both LibDems and Labour Party NU or otherwise.

Personally I would pray that all these Power Hungry Politicians realised that the UK is in dire need of healing, indeed has no wish to have the same ol same ol ointment applied to it's wounds.
Surely it is not beyond the wit of these people to realise that endless squabbling does nothing for the UK other than make them a continual laughing stock for all other nations.
