Most people in Mexico don't kow what the holiday is about. I do know the post office was closed. They take any reason to get a day off.

Mexicans in mexico don't celebrate Cinco De Mayo. It's basically an American thing and it's pretty much just Happy Corona with Lime Day.
I guess coming from Alaska, I could see why you might not understand that many Mexican-Americans see it differently.

But, Rev's rant was racist--whether he realizes it or not:

BTW... "cinco de mayo" is a crock holiday, its only mildy celebrated in the small state of puebla Mexico and at chili's, taco bell, and chevy's fresh mex, so we gringos buy fake mexican food and bottom shelf watered down margarhitas.
Demeaning a holiday... that's tolerance for ya.

Nonsense, the idiocy of your post is a shining jewel of collosal failure. My point was that if they think the American flag is offensive, they should go to a place where the American flag is not flown. There is nothing racist about it.

    FAIL

I guess coming from Alaska, I could see why you might not understand that many Mexican-Americans see it differently.

By your idiotic standard, this statement would be "racist"

But, Rev's rant was racist--whether he realizes it or not:

This is moronic. Your batting a thousand today. Race has nothing to do with it. sorry, you fail.

You do realize, that Cinco de Mayo is not celebrated in Mexico, and it uhm was marketed by Corona to sell gringos more mexican beer right?

I'll let you stew in your ignorance for a while.

    Totally irrelevant.

So long as the flag wearing students were not instigating violence or class disruption by their deeds or words, and wearing clothing is neither a deed nor a word, any untoward event should have resulted in the punishment of the instigator, not the people simply exercising their First Amendment freedoms.

Mexican students who happen to be going to school in America need to learn that they must tolerate beliefs they don't like, they shouldn't be taught that if they whine loudly enough they'll be rewarded.

Just because someone is celebrating Cinco de Mayo in America, does not mean that everyone else cannot celebrate being an American by displaying the American flag.
Don't waste your time trying to preach tolerance to a liberal.

They only demand tolerance when their ridiculous ideas are being discussed. They're very intolerant of reality and Americans.

The one doesn't exclude the other.

He's a school principal, so "both" is a very real probability.

For instance, I've seen schools ban wearing of rosaries and other religious symbols because gang members were using them to identify their affiliation at school (rosaries in the color of the usually latino gangs, the six-pointed star of david used to signify folks affiliation).

If the school deems the attire disruptive to the school climate, and is able to show that this has been the case by documenting exactly how the garment or item has been disruptive, the school can ban the attire.

The rights of students to free expression is trumped by the need to keep the school safe, and that has been consistently upheld in court.
Shouldn't the school ban the disruptive people instead?

The People should lose THEIR freedoms because criminal elements abuse their exercise of it?

I guess that just shows how ignorant you are considering all your pseudo-intellectual bluster. There is a huge latino population in Alaska and I didn't "come from Alaska". I lived there. I come from North Carolina where I grew up on a tobacco farm. That means I had lots of contact with Mexicans growing up. Lots.

Don't try to shove your lack of understanding off on me. Cinco de Mayo is nothing more than Happy Corona and Lime Day.

When Mexican students are getting upset because others don't feel like joining their celebration, they're the bigots and they're ignorant.

And they should go to wherever it is they think they belong, since they don't belong in the United States.
