Christian preacher arrested for saying homosexuality is a sin

Dale McAlpine was charged with causing “harassment, alarm or distress” after a homosexual police community support officer (PCSO) overheard him reciting a number of “sins” referred to in the Bible, including blasphemy, drunkenness and same sex relationships.

The 42-year-old Baptist, who has preached Christianity in Wokington, Cumbria for years, said he did not mention homosexuality while delivering a sermon from the top of a stepladder, but admitted telling a passing shopper that he believed it went against the word of God.

Police officers are alleging that he made the remark in a voice loud enough to be overheard by others and have charged him with using abusive or insulting language, contrary to the Public Order Act.

That's the thing about Free Speech. It applies to speech that you may disagree with.

I hope the United States never goes this far. We have to vigilantly protect Free Speech and an attitude of tolerance the expression of ideas we find repugnant.

I can't believe President Obama would allow such a thing! Then again, what else do you expect from a Muslim?

Stuff like that has been going on for awhile in Britain, Canada and other countries that do not value free speech. I am surprise that they have not fined religious book companies for mentioning the fact that homosexuality is a sin or passed some law requiring that they omit those passages. Luckily in the US there is a constitutional right to free speech, so thought control laws under the guise of hate speech laws are illegal.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

"police community support officer" has a nice Orwellian ring to it.

As I suspected, you prefer the conservative slogan "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO *plugs ears*"
