Wow. Welcome to politically correct fascism, can I take your order?
Where was this Public Order Act when the Supreme Court ruled that people could speak out against Jews in public, on the street, in Jewish Communities - as long as they didn't' directly insight immediate violence with their hate speech?

Overall - I think harassment would be an arrestable offense in this case. Just because I'm grocery shopping doesn't mean I have to hear someone's bull**** religious rhetoric in my face.

If this Public Order Act was more commonly accepted then the "God Hates Fags" people would have no leg to stand on.

And as long as they don't incite to violence, there's no problem. They haven't infringed upon anyone's rights; thus you have no proper cause to forbid it.

That's ****ing BS. I don't want to hear crying kids; but you know what, if I go outside there's a good chance I will. Just because I don't want to hear something, doesn't mean I have the right to shut someone's mouth about it if I happened to wander within earshot of the person. That's just idiotic. People are free to say what they want. There's no right to not be offended, deal with it. We don't need to be thinned skinned little wussies and run around trying to take down rights because we don't like the consequence of rights being recognized. It's called freedom, and it's a hell of a lot better than the alternative.

They're within their rights to do what they do even if it's retarded.
You know the time is right to take control, we gotta take offense against the status quo

Why is it such a passion for you? If you want to speak out against civil liberties for gays so much it must mean that such a thing would bring about something really awful. What would that be?

This is simply appalling. As a Christian I find this to be offensive and completely absurd given the rights to free speech. How dare they arrest this preacher for preaching his belief's in a church. This outright fascist action is frustrating and I hope the UK releases him. My prayers go to this preacher and his congregation and family.

England seriously needs some freedom of speech laws. Legally speaking, (according to my country's laws and freedom of speech values) the cop was very much in the wrong. As ridiculous as the preacher's views are (and those of others like him), he should have the right to speak them.

Whoa. Okay, I think the preacher is a 'tard, but he was having a conversation in a public place with another individual. Someone else just happened to overhear him. You *really* applaud the state that arrests someone because someone else overheard him say something they didn't like? You really think that having a conversation with a friend should be an arrestable offense if someone else can overhear the conversation? I would deplore such a rigid, fascist environment. How could anyone feel secure speaking with another person out in public?

Well, yes, it does, at least in the U.S.

While sometimes I think that I would want laws like this, especially in situations where preachers show up at gay pride events, etc....telling people that they are going to hell.....I believe that ultimately Freedom of Speech is more important even if the content of the speech is something that I might not agree with.
Yeah, I'd like to ban gays from hedonistically proclaiming their 'pride' too, darn that first amendment!
