Ok so I have a question for liberals in general.

Many of you oppose this bill in Arizona, will you also oppose the current immigration bill in Congress which requires citizens to have biometric IDs?

Biometric IDs don't stop people who work under the table, nor do they stop employers who don't require them.

You do know Biometric_passport are a little bit different. They are to make sure that a person is who he says he is. The reason I am against the law in Arizona is because I think it will give polices more thing to harasses people about. Plus, I also think it is kind of a stupid law myself.

This law will never go into effect. The federal government will continue to fail at enforcing our immigration laws and if anyting will grant amnesty to criminal aliens. The border will not be secured and the illegals will continue to flood into our country. Americans will continue to die at the hands of illegals and states will not be able to do a damn thing about it. And all of this increases tentions between the open borders people and the national sovereignty people.

sooner or later somethings gotta give.

People are protesting and its about things that I like! We should pay attention to them and think they're great and do what they say! YAY!

Anyways, all well and good, we saw this last time this came up major. Who would've imagined, a large amount of people...many (not all) of which are likely criminal by their very presense in this country...are protesting that the Federal Government of the country they're not citizens in grant them amnesty of their crimes and gift them citizenships based on the virtue that so many of them broke the laws.

    Wonderful.

To the person saying how this bill could've been written by republicans, etc, and it has border enforcement.

We HAVE border enforcement. We HAVE laws against employing illegals.

I don't give a **** about any Bill that has amnesty + those things. Why? Because why in holy hell am I supposed to believe that the Federal Government is going to enforce NEW laws when they're not enforcing the old.

I will not support any immigration bill that includes a form of amnesty until such a point that this administratin, or whatever future administration, first shows its actually SERIOUS about enforcement and security. It is then, and only then, that I'd be willing to support a candidate and a bill that dealt with those who are breaking our laws and ****ting upon our legal system.

Re: Tens of thousands across U.S. protest Arizona immigration law

I do not hold it against immigrants that they are here illegally. We obviously have the jobs and need the labor or they wouldn't come here. We are the hypocrites for wanting the one without allowing for the other. We have these demands for labor and yet we have an unrealistic immigration strategy.

So what I would like to see is the following:
    1. Create a visa-on-demand program at the border. If someone shows up and passes a terrorist check, give them a 1 year visa automatically.
    2. Provide instructions to get a green card once here with an on-demand visa
    3. Provide all illegal immigrants with an on-demand visa.
    4. If an illegal immigrant is caught in a felony, make em do the time then deport them
    5. If a visa holder or green card holder commits a felony, also make em do the time then deport them
    6. Legalize drugs - this should shutdown border smuggling
    7. Don't worry about the border - this country is not a prison.

Ah the tolerant left kicking and punching those they disagree with

Three people were attacked and at least two others were arrested. The people assaulted were part of the Minutemen demonstration, a group in favor of Arizona's new immigration law.

They said a large group of immigrants' rights supporters followed them to the BART station on Market Street and started punching and kicking them, and calling them names.

"They said we were racists, and we were against them, and against their town, and against San Francisco," said Parker Wilson with the Bay Area National Anarchists. "What they were saying, they said we need to get out and called us racists, and that we need to go home. And then they just attacked my friends and me."

So much fuss over simply trying to enforce immigration laws?

Other countries enforce THEIR immigration laws, which are more strict than ours, so why can't we enforce ours?

If the fed doesn't get serious about this, citizens of the border states will, the ugly way.

"tens of thousands gather to protest"

Oh - now we're suppose to give a **** about what tens of thousands of people oppose in this country?

Tens of thousands of people rallied AGAINST the healthcare bill but the President just made jokes at their expense and turned a blind eye - and passed it anyway.

Tens of thousands of people protested the War in the Middle East but no one cared or made efforts to satisfy them.

Tens of thousands of people have been tortured, kidnapped or their lives otherwise upended because of the actions and decisions of these illegal immigrants in question.

For every ten-thousand who protest this piece of legislature I'm SURE there are MORE who support it.

by following our government's very "American" example - protests numbers in such large groups mean nothing.

I would like to hear specifics about this preparation.

As to the topic, what will make this bill any more effective than anything else passed to date? Laws are already on the book that should have seriously curbed illegal immigration, but that haven't. The problem isn't one where another law is needed, but one where we need to find the will to enforce the ones we have already. I see nothing in this bill that actually does this. In fact, I would argue no law written can. It has to do with everyone being willing to enforce the law. If we're not, any law can be ignored.

AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: I think the world vests too much power, certainly in the president, probably in Washington in general for its influence on the economy, because most all of the economy has nothing to do with the government.
