Might wanna change your link there bud.

In response to this: Spose it was nothing, still to evacuate the entire of times square, my god  how many times has this been done in the past? I've been there a couple of times, and to clear it of all vehicles and people must be a monumental ****ing task.

OK...... who is the ****ing asshole that decided to put this article on the front page of MSNBC and got their facts wrong!?!?

Reuters has the best coverage I have found so far.

Excerpted from “NY's Times Sq. evacuated after failed car bomb; An apparent failed car bomb in a dark-colored sport utility vehicle which was smoking and emitted a small "flash" caused police to evacuate New York's Times Square on Saturday night, Broadway's busiest night.,” Reuters, Sat May 1, 2010 11:32pm EDT
A New York Fire Department officer told Reuters the vehicle was found to contain explosives, gasoline, propane and burned wires and was being treated as a "failed device."

The officer, who did not give his name because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said a man was seen fleeing the car and that police had protectively evacuated several blocks around the popular tourist area in the center of Midtown Manhattan in case there were other devices.

Times Square was eerily empty for several blocks on Saturday night, the busiest night of the week on the Great White Way as tourists and theater-goers watched from behind barricades as anti-terrorism units swarmed the scene.

New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne said a vehicle had been left in Times Square, with smoke seen coming from it. Browne said a bomb squad responded and a small fire was extinguished.

The SUV was parked very close to a production of "The Lion King" on 45th Street. Women in evening gowns were among the crowd on one of the warmest nights of the year and the busiest night of the week for Broadway theaters in the area. …

****ers tried to blow up “The Lion King.”

Hmmmm...anyone know where Cheney was when this happened?

I think noodle should be cited for misusing the emergency thread symbol. None of his emergencies are actually emergencies.

The scene at Times Square on Saturday night after police found a suspicious package inside a Pathfinder on West 45th Street.

By RAY RIVERA and KARIN HENRY
May 1, 2010

A bomb in Times Square led to the evacuation of thousands of tourists and theatergoers from the area on a warm and busy Saturday evening, the police said.

There was no explosion.

“It appears to be a car bomb left in a Pathfinder between Seventh and Eighth,” said Deputy Commissioner Paul J. Browne, the Police Department’s chief spokesman.

The device, he said, contained “explosive elements” that included “propane tanks, some kind of powder, gasoline and a timing device.”
