Republicans are not going to repeal it. Seriously, merely suggesting you're going to bring back the donut hole will destroy the elderly vote.
You're completely missing the point. If the health care bill was unpopular when it passed and the GOP is in a good position after having opposed it, why would this situation be different in the near future? It makes no sense, but that's what you were implying.

merely suggesting that you're going to keep the mandate is costing dems drastically in pennsylvania, michigan, wisconsin, illinois, iowa, tennessee, colorado, nevada, arkansas...

The people who think ObamaCare is the right way to go 45% said no, and 31% said yes, and 24% say somewhat meaning their are more people who think Obama is going in somewhat the right directions.
    31% +24%= 55% is somewhat for Obama
RyrineaNara's poll: Obamacare What are your thoughts?

The masses clearly want something done with the health care system...
The internet and especially one that is a niche website targeting a very specific demographic is not a good place to conduct a poll. To further hit the point, look at how few responded.

Because the opposition will start pointing out the actual facts of the bill. Especially parts that got no play in the press. Do you really think the average retiree knows that the bill eliminates the drug donut? Do you think once they know they are going to be HAPPY to go back to it? How about the 31 MILLION voters who are going to lose insurance? Or the millions of 25 and 26 year old students (not to mention 24 year olds) who are going to be uninsured?

The health care bill atmosphere was largely not factual or entirely cost focused. That will change if the bill comes up for repeal.

You put those three out front and center and the GOP won't repeal it for mere threat of losing their seats. That's ALOT of votes they just lost.

Besides the complete disdain for democracy (something I see from you often), this ignores that the effort to repeal is generally acknowledged be a lot harder after 2014 rolls around and the bill's main effects start kicking in. The idea is to stop it before then, there being two Congressional elections and a presidential election in between.

Of course, there's no reason why it'll suddenly become a "factual" debate (i.e. a debate where people agree with you) if it comes up for repeal before 2014 rather than when it was up for a vote in the first place. But yes, I am willing to bet that the average retiree not only knows of the drug donut thing, but doesn't care, because it's one small provision in an otherwise immense bill, and the one that is least likely to be done away with anyways. It's more likely that they'll repeal it except for that and the pre-existing conditions thing, and maybe the 26-year-old mandate.

The opposition to the health care bill did not point out any actual facts when the issue was being debated. Instead, it pointed out and repeated over and over items that were not actually in the bill at all.

Who had time to read it in order to find those facts?

I don't know. I'm beginning to wonder if anyone has actually read it.

It's a lot easier to just make up "facts" after all, and you can always tailor made up facts to fit your own ideology, whatever that is.

We can make assumptions about what the underlying idea will do, but we can't really judge it until we have time to read it.
