China: Diplomat beaten, injured by Houston police

BEIJING China said Friday that a Chinese diplomat in the U.S. was beaten and injured by Houston police and urged an investigation to ensure diplomatic practices are not violated.

The U.S. State Department was taking the matter very seriously and findings of the investigation would be shared with China "as soon as appropriate," said Susan Stevenson, spokeswoman for the U.S. Embassy in Beijing.

She referred further questions to Houston police, which did not immediately return calls seeking comment Friday morning.
Ouch. The Houston Police Department is well known for beating people who even look crosseyed at them, and there have been investigations in the past, one which was triggered after 2 Houston Police officers handcuffed a "Mexican", and then threw him into Buffalo Bayou while saying "Let's see if this wetback can swim". The "Mexican" drowned, and it turned out that he was a US citizen, after all.

So, the City of Houston gets yet another black eye, courtesy of the Police Department. You would think that, with such a brutal police department, the crime rate here would be way down, but instead, it is way up. Go figure.

Wait....our cops....needlessly beating people? No, never! They don't do anything wrong, especially acting violent and aggressive towards the very people they're supposed to serve and protect.

Pre judging the police as being the bad guy before you know all the facts? No never! You would never do that would you?

The government is always considered guilty. It is only the individual who is innocent until proven guilty. All arms of the government, particularly it's militant arms, must be regarded with suspicion. Plus, we've seen plenty and plenty of times cops abusing power and people. So it's not a stretch.

So why is this a black eye again? Message sent was simple: Don't eff with cops in Texas - they don't give a hoot who you are.

I got the message and next time I'm going to Austin or DFW, I think I'll be on my best behavior.
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

No, I think it is the cops who are about to learn a lesson. This ain't Lethal Weapon 2 here. They're going to find out what happens when you beat up the wrong folk. Invoking the State Department, they're in for a world of hurt. Maybe a cop will even be held accountable to his actions for once....maybe.

Jesus and I thought Boston cops were bad. This won't end well for them though. The State Department will most likely be on their asses about this.

Justifying police brutality...how lame of you.

Cops aren't special; they don't deserve special treatment; they're citizens just like the rest of us. Licking their boots because they have a badge and a uniform is just nonthinking conformist crap.

LA county has the worst cops, by far. It's not even close.

LOL Wow. You are really out there dude.

No matter what, the cops are always guilty in your mind? Is there an anarchist political leaning?

And we've seen plenty of "victims" lie about their treatment so its not a stretch.
