Arizona Legislature Passes Bill Banning Ethnic Studies Programs

Arizona is not in the "south".

I think you are under the false impression he cares about the facts.

Its just another excuse to scream bigot and racist for the far left without actually thinking

I know... but I couldn't let this one go unchallenged.

I've been in almost every state in this country after growing up in the south. I've lived in the north, south, southwest, and the midwest now. By far, the most racist people I've ever been around are northerners.

For me it was Wisconsin. Holy crap those people are out there.

I never heard the N word more in my life from people who by their own admission hadn't even seen a black person in real life until college.

Here in Dallas I went to a public school system that did not have any black people in it. The school system turned away federal funding so as to avoid busing.

Chicago here. I was born and raised in Mississippi, but never saw as much blatant racism as I did in Chicago.

All you did was separate a SENTENCE and tried to separate the requirements. Talk about dishonest.

Prohibits a school district or charter school from including in its program of instruction any courses or classes that:

Ø Promote the overthrow of the United States government.

Nothing to do what ethnicity.

Ø Promote resentment toward a race or class of people.

I don't think anyone would dispute this, so I didn't emphasize it.

Ø Are designed primarily for pupils of a particular ethnic group.

The one I am asking about.

Ø Advocate ethnic solidarity instead of the treatment of pupils as individuals.

Again, I don't think anyone would dispute this.

Does it make more sense now?

I think most of that is BS. It's the cog law. Make everyone feel as if they're just a piece of the cog. We should teach defiance of the government, protest and revolt, and the proper causes and necessities for it. It's an important tool of the people. Instead, this law seems like it wants to bring up children to go with whatever they are told to do without question or resolve for individual thought.

How about we teach the Constitution and what it means to an individual, to our country and how the USA compares to other countries?

Would you support having different militia's types come in and present their views?

I was raised in Maryland till I was 13 and lived in Arizona for more than 25 years. I also lived in Alabama for 3 years, and witnessed at least 3 times the amount of racism in Maryland, as I did in Alabama and Arizona combined.

Now, which of those states is dominated by liberals again?

Well if it was only 3 times the amount of racism, mathematically, Alabama would be slightly more racist than Maryland, because you lived in Maryland for a little more than 4 times longer. :2razz:

It would also mean that Arizona would be about 6 times less racist than Maryland.

My math says different. I said Arizona (25+ years) and Alabama (3 years), verses 13 years in Maryland.

Maybe they teach math different where you're from?

We have poised our national passions in the most favorable posture to minorities that any nation has known. That posture is now assumed to be one of meek cowering unstaedyness for our principles of life Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. No it is'nt ( I voted a Black American as my President) we can be both in favor of civil rights for black americans and against the unamerican activities of sneeking into the country as opposed to legaly using the system to become an American citizen as millions of immigrants have done since the beginning of this great experiment of, self rule.
Arizona seems to be doing what we all believe we should do, use our governments to further our values in a peaceful way ,and use our system of rule of law to better serve the interests of everyone. We are seeing further limitations on the absolute federal system control in our Republican form of government. I look forward to the coming debates about limits on the Federal system. States Rights anyone?

The southwest. Did you take geography in school ??

Do you really think this is relevant to the discussion or are you deliberately trying to derail it?

I'm not the one that brought it up. Talk to your buddy ADK.

Exactly. Its amazing so many liberals in here can't grasp the basic concept and predictably fall back on:

omg racist! omg bigoted!

Its far left liberal auto pilot for debating.

No, although, accusations of reverse racism are yours.

Still separating the overall points and cherry picking. Nice.

Try reading the actual law:

A school district or charter school in this state shall not include in its program of instruction any courses or classes that either:

1. Are designed primarily for pupils of a particular ethnice group

2. Advocate ethnic solidarity instead of the treatment of pupils as individuals.

It does not prohibit or restrict:
Courses or classes for native American pupils that are required to comply with federal law.

2. The grouping of pupils according to academic performance, including capability int he English language that may result in a disparate impact by ethnicity.

Next time, read the law not a summary of it.

Toe-mae-toe Toe-mah-toe

It's also in the south.

For your continuing education....and my last word on the subject.

Do you actually live in the U.S. ????????

I wish the Arizona politicians would bless Tennessee with some of this legislation. There is still hope left in this era of Obamania.

No, although, accusations of reverse racism are yours.

Really? Where did I do that?

The only thing I have said is that it is racist to believe all Hispanics are pro illegal immigration.

Sarge! We have another one dodging the argument! Commence rundown with the facts!

Let me know when you've got the cognitive ability to actually read the law.

I've already provided it for you.

Learning about other cultures is a bad thing?

It seems learning about American culture, American history, America's benevolence, America's sacrifices for others and American greatness is.
